People spend HOURS on it...WHY?? Well, I may not spend hours on there, but blogging...I do. I am fairly new at it too, but I find that I am HORRID at keeping a journal...every entry is an apology to what...my book?...for not writing. My blog is my family's journal, and my life. Yes, the world can see it, but isn't that how journals end up eventually anyhow...?? The stories that our children tell their children, etc. It all works for me!! In that respect I think it's wonderful to be in close touch. But how close is another thing. The way FB "tattle tales" is pretty annoying to me. I get alerts that tell me little obvious things like when someone has changed their icon picture. Good post topic. It is wonderful ...I do FB and I really do enjoy it. It is wonderful for groups (like MOPS, Bible Studies, etc) to stay connected to their ladies. I've grown closer to the people I see all the time and those I haven't seen in years. We have moved several times in life though, so that is a big draw for me. For people who have lived in the same area their whole lives I cannot imagine it being quite as interesting.

I am careful to only post "relevant" updates or conversation stimulating ones. The whole "going to the store..."; "eating a banana..." stuff does get annoying.

You can spend hours and hours playing games, throwing snowballs, sending virtual Starbucks, etc. on it but I don't do any of the "extras." Just isn't worth the time and you have to allow your profile access to each one separately.

That's my two cents! ;)Shandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16800875348050052144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-254550752888160063.post-33282455660680604382009-02-04T14:04:00.000-05:002009-02-04T14:04:00.000-05:00Whoa.. sorry about that, Sandy.. There are people who I haven't really seen since high school with whom I now chat daily (I cannot WAIT til my next reunion, because I'll KNOW what's going on!), and there are folks from college with whom I'd lost touch as my military husband and I moved around. And then, there's my next door neighbor, with whom I can set up walks and playtimes. And my best friend from years past, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in Nov. And we've gotten so much closer, and I know what's "up" with her. And my high school and college groups.. and the women's class group that I set up .. and being able to "poke" my brother in Tennessee... and SO many other ways and people that are changed because I can REACH them now. I'm thinkin' that Satan may have well created Facebook, but it's gotten away from him now....
Please let me know if you get the potato gun going; you KNOW we'd love to be there. I do have a FB page. Growing up military and now being a military spouse we have folks all over and it is so hard to keep track of friends. In the AF you seem to always run into folks down the road again so it's neat to see pics of the families (since they don't blog) and I've found and been found by old school friends which is neat since I went to school in England and wouldn't have found them otherwise!
But...when I go to check on FB and see that folks have their status thingy saying they are watching tv, cooking dinner, going to the gym... it isn't my thing.
