Can I eat dinner in my Laundry Room?

We moved last year and had to sell a house that I decorated with red walls and toile wallpaper. Well, in this type of market, we ended up re-painting and having all the wallpaper taken down to make it "neutral"!  So in our new house I have been careful with what I choose. However, I had to have one red room and this time I did the laundry room...

I accented the laundry room with black and white decor down to pillows...Yes...Pillows in a laundry room!  I bought this cute "cubby" with three baskets from HL and accented it with some fun pillows.  The gold letters behind are the initials of my kids and they use the baskets under the their letter.

I love black and white pictures and try to place them anywhere I can.  I bought this cute rooster tassel at the "nestingplacenc"blog.  I bet she never thought it was going in a laundry room!

Some mornings the sun shines so nicely in this room...I just want to brew a cup of tea and sit  in here.  However, reality hits me quickly and remember that I have a lot to do in this laundry room called wash and fold clothes! But, decorating this room has made laundry more enjoyable..hee hee!

I found you from your comment on the Nester. Gotta love the Nester!

I would love to do laundry in a room like that! The red looks great and I love the letters of your kids hanging on the wall. I just painted a room( the kitchen) red for the first time and I am so pleased with how it turned out.

Your pictures of your children are beautiful by the way!

Your laundry room is gorgeous!!!!
It looks wonderful, just the way it is, but since you asked me for my suggestions about the oh sooo cute letters above the baskets, here goes...
I would be tempted to buy one long piece of MDF board the length of the bench below and just a bit wider than the height of the letters. I would glue scrapbook paper or mod podge fabric onto it. Then I would prime and paint the letters black and adhere them onto the length of wood. Just below the letters, I would attach a small knob or hook that I would hang pictures of the kiddos,in black 4x6 frames, attached with ribbon.
I would hang the whole thing just below the bracing of the shelf. This would help to fill in the blank area and would visually tie all of your decor together.
Now, before you go to all of this work, first measure to see if it will fit between the bracing and the outlet. If not, then simply cut three pieces of wood, one for each letter. That way you have a little more options for working it around the outlet.
Does this make any sense? If not, please let me know if you have any questions.

Found you by way of Joy. Isn't she great by the way. I too have a red laundry room and the wood finish around the doors and window is the sam. I think it looks great. I have cabinets where your shelves are, and a deep sink. If I did not have a freezer in there, I would have lots of space. We used to have our computer desk in there. Your decor is great and I like the black bench with the baskets. Do you live near the beach? Oh, how I wish I did. Your children are beautiful and look forward to more visits at your place. Jackie

Thanks for stopping by my blog. So nice to "meet" you!

Love red. I have a red half bath... for the exact same reason. Needed a little red, but not quite as much as the last house. : )

Ooooh, I love the laundry room! Wow, now I want to re-do mine in red! Or buy some great baskets and bench from Hobby Lobby even though I have nowhere to put them! Beautiful! And thanks for visiting me, by the way! I will be back!

It is the Hammel House in Waynesville, Ohio. It is a restaurant and they do have several rooms that you can stay in overnight. I'm sure you could do a search on the internet and get more information. I am going to the Country Living Fair also. I can't wait!

Thanks for your comment on my blog:)

Wow, I love your laundry room! We have been tossing around the idea of building a laundry room (rather than an awfully ugly closet in the basement). Your lovely room makes me want to do that even more! We probably never will though...because that would mean drywalling and plastering and sanding ;-)
