Decorating Our Everyday Stuff

How many of you have decorations that stay up all year? I have many but some of them I will change a little "detail" to celebrate the "season". For one thing, it makes life easier and it makes me sad to put things away to bring out new things for a holiday!
I have two favorites...

My Kitchen French Pig...Oliver! This is one of my first decorations I bought out of college! I still love him and write messages to our guests all the time! It's kinda of like that duck you see on porches where the sweet little lady changes it's clothes...rain coats...straw hats.

Mr.Oliver wears many things...just wait till you see him at Christmas!

Also, I have quite a few of these...there is a name for these but for simplicity let's call them "glass jars"! I will add a "little" something to go with the season...see my cute pumpkins for fall!
It's simple...saves money (which my husband likes to see) and makes something old feel "NeW".

What do you have around your home that you change for the holiday?

Love the glass jar with the little bird! Wow-I'm feeling really NOT "crafty". I just pull out the holiday box and put my same old stuff out. I'll have to look around to see if I can't come up with something.

Okay I love the glass jar idea! I have halloween candy in the 2 I have. I usually change out the top of my TV hutch with ivy for spring and summer, fall leaves for well fall of course and pine garland for winter I also put ribbons on my buffet lamps.

I love how you can write messages with your cookie jar. I bet that is really fun :)

Since I am brand new to owning my own home I haven't really had a change to develop my decorating skills yet, but as a kid or what I am planning on doing is changing table cloths/runners, table settings/decor, and doing something fun on a mantle in my case our bookshelf in the entry way. I love the glass jars. I'm going to have to start collecting some. It's amazing how just adding something simple like the pumpkins makes it feel all new.

I've seen a pig like that at our Hobby Lobby, I believe. Being that I'm not real creative, I stood there trying to figure out what in the world I could do with it. Now, I know, thanks to you! How cute...I may just have to go back0 and purchase it.

You always have such neat ideas...keep them coming! :)

I am a fan of the glass jars.....they are all over my house...different sizes and different shapes! I am always looking for different things to fill in them to go with the seasons!

I also have wreaths that go on all of the french doors in my house....I have a different style wreath for each season, so there is always something festive hanging!

Love Oliver the French Pig!!

Have a great day!

Love the pig-I keep all the picture frames on my foyer table, but at a few pumpkins or tiny christmas trees, or my little iron birds in the spring...

I have an oliver too!!!!
I never thought to dress him...I will have to try that. He usually says " Eat WELL" A reminder to my family.
I have a glass dining room table, I change out the runners and the centerpiece about 4x a year.
I have a glass hurricane similar to your glass jar, and I too change out the contents for the seasons. candy corn for halloween w/ a cute candle is coming up soon.
Thanks for sharing.

I'm a big fan of "tweaking" and freshening year-round accessories with seasonal accents! It saves money ... and time!

Love your ideas. And, don't worry about dishes and beds ... they'll still be there this afternoon. :-)

Oliver is so cute! I have a large white ceramic rooster in my kitchen that I dress up for the holidays. At Christmas he wears a little wreath around his neck. I think I may tie some rafia on for fall. I also have jars that I change.
