The Good and The Bad about a "Snow Day"

snow
Starting at 4:53am...the calls started coming...transportation...local school closing....then our school recorded "call"---NO SCHOOL TODAY! Yes, we finally GOT SNOW!

Of course, the kids are thrilled....they get to stay in their pj's...PLAY...watch a bit of t.v.....PLAY some more. We have family in town from Michigan. My mom loves to play games..yahoo! She is our official "gameboard" player.

It is a more relaxed day even I am still in my pj bottoms. I have thought about trying to run out to Starbucks but it looks "nasty"out.

Snow days are fun...different than any other day! BUT, it's not good for blogging. I don't know about you but I can't leave comments when three pairs of eyes are peeking over my shoulders.

Can you?

I so wish we would have a snow day. Doesn't look promising in our neck of the woods. I also have a hard time leaving comments when the kids are all over me...can't focus. Glad you had a relaxing day!

I just let G rais himself ..
Heck, he can learn it from t.v.
I do a little bloging and then talk on the phone
eat some fancy lunch and then maybe a mid afternoon bath
.......oh i'm sorry i was dreaming ... or my brain just cut out from lack of sleep (I'm waiting for dough to poof right now)......
we went to the rec center for a snow day class and made snow men on paper out of mini marshmellows
you lick the bottom of them and they stick to papper like glue (it really works) it was fun
at romeo's afterward ... tastey! (btw they now give free refills on pop ... unlike when you were here)
talk soon! tell your mom i said "HI"

I know it is so hard to blog when family is around... The eyes are staring at you at first from standing next to you, then it is on top of you and then they are peering in front of you trying to see and turn to make eye contact with you.He he!!
No snow days today here. It turned into rain around 9 am.

Do you ever feel like there are to many idea's to post and you never get to them all? That's me now.

How fun! I can't even imagine a snow day! My kids would be in Heaven to be in snow!

I use to love snow days! Now, I don't because one of us has to go to work anyway. Hospitals never close.... darn! Glad that you & your kids had a great day!

Julie said...

have fun with your snow day!!! My kiddos are too young, don't have to deal with that yet...

Dawn said...

oh how i used to love love love snow days... we would pull out the games and play all day with my mom :) do your kids call them gameboards instead of board games? my son calls them that and now it had caught on here at my house :)

April said...

Do you REALLY have to brag about the snow you got and post pictures to boot? Come on now...that's a little low! Oh, I'm only kidding...what I'd give to have just a little of that white stuff! But, NO...it's plain ol'rainy and foggy outside. I think I've completely given up hope!

No, I can't blog when anyone is looking at me...throws off my train of thought! I bet your mom is enjoying spending time with her grandchildren...I'm sure they enjoy her, too! Playing board games...you just can't beat it! Stay warm, my friend!

AH yes, the snow day....it is hard to get things done when you have a house full!! I like to comment early in the morning and late at night, when they are all in bed!! If Nick sees that I am on blogs, he will sit next to me and read and ask questions....I feel your pain....and guess what?? Today is a snow day for us!!

Ahhh! A snowday! We have one today too!
I think that we will make this a pajama day... with popcorn and a movie for lunch! (Is that wrong? Popcorn for lunch?)
Maybe we will watch the movie "Snow Day"....
Enjoy having your Mom there to help, she will keep the kiddos busy while you blog!

Ha ha ha!

We had two snow days in a row. Not actually snow days - it was TOO CCCOLD (I guess our school system isn't equipped to handle temps dipping below -20F- gotta admit that IS cold).

I can't blog with hubby looking over my shoulder. He doesn't get why that's distracting. Umm...do you mind? LOL!

Keeper of the Skies Wife said...

Yeah, school here was cancelled and we got NOTHING in my area!

I am so jealous! I love to stay in my PJs all day! So glad Grandma is there to help entertain the kiddos!

It's nice that it happened to fall when Grandma was around. I bet she enjoyed the time with the kids.
I can't comment with people watching either!

We finally got a snow day today in TN! But guess what? It's 7:03am and there is no snow yet! They are expecting it within the hour. I get to enjoy the day with my husband (he's a teacher), so regardless if the snow comes or not, he's home and I'm happy.

Just when i am about to leave a comment a child appears... and whatever they need is right now, so yes it does make blogging difficult! :o)

So funny--I just shoo-ed our youngest (who STILL got up at the crack of dawn!) out from the study. The snow here is absolutely breathtaking!

Here he is again...SIGH. Later :)

Glad to hear that the kids have a snow day and that your Mom is there to help out! And you're right -- it is difficult to comment when everybody's watching you! Take care and enjoy the day!

My kids want a snow day so badly - I don't mind a snow day, just please, please not an ice day!

I don't believe we will get either -60's and rain :(

We are on our second snow day here in Ohio. My kids seem to think all I do is sit at the computer and read blogs all day. Enjoy the snow! I'm going out later with the kids and will take some pictures to post:)

Too funny!
My husband always tries to watch my leave comments...makes me feel so self-conscious.

We have a snow day today...I am hoping to make a Starbucks run later. :)

We are having an ice day today....yuck. I blog when they are napping or playing in the playroom. Any chance I get. It is a sickness.

Wendy said...

Snow days...we're having one today. Off to play with the wee ones.

Valarie Lea said...

Its been so long since we had a snow day around here. :(

But I do know exactly what you mean about the eyes. :)

the undomesticated wife said...

ha! that's how I feel when hubs is home and I'm trying to blog...get away from me so I can read! ;)

We didn't get snow, but instead a nice shiny, slick layer of ice. We'll be indoors for a while.

Darlene said...

You got a bunch of beautiful snow....only ice here..YUCK! I know what you mean about blogging with kids. My daughter will occasionally stand behind me and read out loud while I am commenting...it drives me CRAZY! At that point, off the computer and on to do something else! I'm glad you mom is there to play "board" games with the kids. That would occupy them for a time.

Kacey said...

Congrats on the snow day and oooooh ooooh does Starbucks sound fantastic. I say go! Keep your Pjs on, load everyone up and just pull up to the drive thru! Be a rebel today! LOL

Three eyes are always trying to peek at me which is why I usually do most of my reading and commenting at night. But I love to sneak in a few here and there throughout the day. :D Like right now...Ha!

So funny...I always tell my kids to leave while I blog....They make me paranoid!!!

Aaaah, snow days. Good memories of childhood in Connecticut, and eagerly listening to the radio in the morning, hoping and hoping. Now that we're in California, the snow days aren't happening. Thanks for the good memories :)

It's usually Mr. Magpie peering over my shoulder, but it doesn't bother me... unless he's trying to get me to go somewhere that very second. And then it's maddening! LOL! :-)

Love the snow! I love the snow "cap" on the bird bath, I have so many pictures of when we used to live where we did get snow, just like those. I always thought they were the prettiest.

We had 3 ice days this week. I'm sure they'll tack a day or two to the end of the year.

I see the board game of choice for your gameboarders was Sequence. That is my Mother-In-Law's favorite game.

Looks like you guys had a great time!
