Placemat or Lampshade????

This fall, one of my friends, Amie, came to visit. She gave the sweetest gift...this little lamp and wooden base for my kitchen. I love it. The base is so cute and "cottagy". Everytime I would sit down at my kitchen desk, I would think that the lampshade does need something!!!

This past week, I have mentioned that I am trying to organize and go through all my stuff. I came across some old placemats. I still love them..toile, check and cute quilt ones. However, the reality is that I don't use place mats. I have found that I can't even get them off the table quick enough before my family starts eating. So I don't use them.

So I had a {LIGHTBULB}moment and decided to cover my lampshade with two placemats. Just a lot of pulling and my hot glue gun...ouch, I had more hot glue on me then the lamp shade!!! It worked. I love it! The fabric matches my kitchen and the lamp is even more adorable! I added a little "fun" fringe on top and WOILA..a new lamp!

Hee hee..my husband came home from a basketball game and said "Did you go shopping?"

So the moral of the story...look around your house...something that is meant for ONE thing could make another thing just {PERFECT}!

{p.s. Take a peek at the "new look" of the Reluctant Entertainer and her giveaway!}

I don't use placemats either. This is a great idea! That the placemats are toile is a plus! I have used cloth napkins to cover pillow forms for some small pillows in my dining room chairs.

My bedroom is that exact toile pattern! Wonderful job on a gorgeous project (I'm feeling your pain over the hot glue though...that happends to me all the time.)
