Thursday Thankful..well, not really!

Ladies(and those few "gents")...it's Thankful Thursday and right now I can't think of one thing to write about! WHY? I will tell you why..I am on a "diet". The cat is out of the bag..I finally am posting it. Diets make me crabby and frankly....just plain CRAZY!

I was at the grocery store last night grazing the aisles for a "healthy" and "fulfilling" snacks. So I bought these....

The packaging looks great...a nice snack in the afternoon. YES..if you are BARBIE! These little filled muffins are so small when you eat them...you wonder if you did eat it....you think you did..you may have felt it on your tongue but there is nothing to it. 100 calories, yeah right! It takes about 3 of these little suckers and then you may feel like you ate something...so they should call them 300 calorie snacks b/c you must eat 3 packages!

I have decided that I need to stay away from all these 100 calorie snacks..it gets my taste buds going and I want more. Now I can eat pretzels and never crave another but what I counted out..those should be called the true "100" calorie snack.

Please don't get me wrong..I have so much to be thankful for. But, right now..this "diet" is making it all foggy..maybe next Thursday I can do better when my body adjust to all this "healthy " food.

I think I have entered the "crazy" stage when I am taking pictures of my food with BARBIE!

p.s. 12th GIVEAWAY-------> What I am giving away is usually sold at the same type of store that sells "Vera Bradley". It's not food..so many people have been guessing types of "food"..I think you all are more hungry than me!

I think I would go crazy on a diet too. I told myself that this year I was going to not each so many carbs. I can down a loaf of fresh bread in no time. Not to mention that pasta is something I eat pretty regulary. Well, so far, I haven't been able to do it. I wish you lots of luck. Hang in there!

You totally deserve a break. Diets throw just about everything in your system off but especially your blood sugar which can make you feel terrible.

Hope you feel better soon. Will be praying for ya.

LOL... I love the barbie pic with the disheveled hair... she looks like her day is going about as good as yours ;-) Have you seen my diet blog? I'll have to send you a link.

Oh, my heart goes out to you! Don't think I'm quite strong enough to pass up on the sugary treats. Well, actually, I don't eat a lot of that sort of thing, just dark chocolate with almonds. Hershey's Nuggets, to be exact! Sorry for my digression! :(

Just know that I'm thinking of you, girl, and praying for strength to get you through this tough time. I know you CAN do it...trust and believe!!!

I'm so proud of you that you are sticking to a diet, it's not easy.Hang in there.

Hugs,

Try to hang in there! Don't deprive yourself of good stuff totally, just allow it like one day a week. If you hate the diet, it won't last. Good luck!!!

That Barbie picture made me snort. Thanks for the morning giggle.

Awww, I feel your pain. I HATE diets. That's why I was thrilled to pieces to get a Wii Fit for Christmas. I'd much rather exercise (if it's fun exercise) for 30 mins. so I don't have to eat like Barbie & Skipper :-)

PS Check out sparkspeople.com if you haven't already. Great diet and it seems like you never STOP eating LOL

I am laughing out loud this morning because of this great picture!

I have to stay away from those types of snacks too so you are not the only one! I'm sure come the summer I'll be posting about the diet I am on; for now I'm trying (oh, so hard) to got get as big as a hot air balloon !

Robin Beck said...

Have you tried the "Skinny Cow" ice cream for a snack? Yummy...And if I remember right they are only like a point or two on weight watchers.

Is your giveaway a tote or wallet or some kind of purse?

The Barbie photo is such a hoot! Great way to give perspective on the size of that snack.

I've started watching since the holidays ended. No chocolate since Monday and only reaching for fruit when hungry - definitely not fun without chocolate in my life....

Good luck!

Good luck with your diet. They stink.... I know you will do great!!!

Those 100 calorie snacks are a joke, aren't they!!

I am trying to get back on track myself....I ate way too many cookies over the holidays!! Anyway, I have been a bit of a crab myself....sugar withdrawals...ugh:(

I loved the comparison with the Barbie doll...brilliant.

Here's to wishing you luck with your healthier eating plan this year! You can do it. The first few weeks are the hardest. But after that, it DOES get easier.

Good luck with the diet...I gave up the Barbie packs, they are expensive and I would have to hide them from my kids (they would eat 3 of them at one sitting) and they did just make me want more sugar! My daughter has renamed the lean cuisine meals anorexic meals!

Jboo said...

Good luck with the diet -- I'm on one too, but am still having two Hersh*ey kisss in the morning and two in the afternoon. I just can't give up chocolate!

Ha! Ha! I can totally relate. For years when my husband asked me what made me so sweet, I would say "dessert." But I'm taking a break from sugar for a bit -- real and artificial -- hoping to drop some pounds and tame my cravings for sweet. But I'm hoping he'll slip me some cookies in my sleep if I start to turn ugly. Good luck to you, girl!

Yeah, those 100 calorie packs are just a tease!!!!
Just the thought of dieting always makes me hungry and cranky!!!!

Lindsey said...

I'm the same way - hate thos 100 cal snack packs! They are just a tease!

Betsy said...

I have never dieted but probably should right now to lose the last 5 lbs. of some baby weight. I am trying to get inspired by Oprah's Best Life Week. We will see. Good luck.

Marie said...

LOL! Oh I can totally relate! I was so hungry and crabby the first few weeks of my diet too. I'm back to "normal" now. :o) My favorite snack is blue tortilla chips with flax seed (Target carries them) and salsa! It's low fat and yummy. I don't usually have a sweet tooth, but when I do a small dish of fat-free chocolate pudding with a tiny bit of lowfat cool whip does the trick! Hope that helps a tiny bit. :o) GOOD LUCK!!

Mari said...

I'm dieting too. I like some of the 100 calorie things - like the chewy oreo bar. With that, you do feel like you're eating something!

Marie said...

Oh! And in order to win your giveaway, do we have to guess what it is?? Hmmm....

Marie said...

Okay. I'm totally guessing a locket. It's hard, it's usually heart shaped and it's very Vera Bradley! lol

Jeni said...

GOOD LUCK!!!! I need to follow you. I am good at getting some excercise but the eating part is what gets me. Go for a walk and turn on some good tunes too...then you burn calories so you can eat more. Shoot maybe I am a little crazy right now...I am hungry and I am trying not to eat the frozen waffles that are screaming at me.

The Quintessential Magpie said...

Boy, this gets trickier! And I'm laughing about your cravings because I have them, too! Diets are no fun. I am going to get serious after next week. I'm giving myself one week to prepare mentally. Then it's serious business time!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Diet, just the word makes me hungry. Good luck though!! I love almonds... toss a hand full of those in my mouth and it gives me the protien boost I need with out the sugar. Heart shaped and sold where Vera Bradley is I am guessing something "Brighton"!!
Cause I am a supporter of Brighton!!! and they are crazy for hearts!!

Oh dieting is just not fun....I don't like to exercise either! It is making it quite difficult to lose some pounds like I need to :(

Some kind of a heart shaped key-ring?

I hear ya! I too am on a *cough* diet *cough*. I HATE IT! Yeah..I tried the 100 calorie pack chocolate chip cookies. I managed to stop after 2 bags, the first time! Needless to say the box is gone! Ugh!

I am too trying to drop a few pounds. I never get filled up from those 100 calories packs...they just make me hungrier too! :) I LOVE the Barbie picture...too funny!!!

O.M.G. Girl, you're preachin' to the choir! Been there, done that...trying to do it again. I can totally sympathize. You were cracking me up with the Barbie statement. You know, I was thinking. Anything can be 100 calories...you may only get 1 bite, but hey it's ONLY 100 calories!!! I think some of these companies have it all wrong, sure a snack should only be about 100 calories, BUT it should be something substantial for 100 calories, not a measley morsel that you forgot you ate! Sorry for ranting in your comments☺ Good luck with the eating healthy!

Sandra said...

You know I can't go on a diet, my body literally goes beserk and that is when I raid the refrigerator and find myself eating everything that I'm not supposed to.

LOL on the barbie pic, that is so funny.

I SO know what you mean. As I sit here and type I have a horrible headache and have retreated to the office to "get away" from the kids because they are too loud. What is the headache from you may ask?? Caffiene withdrawals....yep trying to do better and not drink colas and this is what I get. {I see a DrPepper in my future...NO....I will be good I will be good!} Good luck to you!

I am in the same boat! I am trying to watch what I eat and I am always hungry! Those 100 calorie snacks don't fill ya up!

Hi, thanks for visiting my blog! I've seen your comments on several other blogs I visit, and it's a pleasure to come here now and "meet" you.

UGH about the diet. I certainly don't enjoy those and am grateful that one of the side effects of this (unexpected, but wonderful) pregnancy is that I have a very good reason not to diet right now! :) However, next January I'm sure I'll need to take the weight loss a little more seriously.

I hope things improve for you and that you find healthy stuff that you can munch on to fill the cravings. How about fruit? Can you do that?

All the best to you with the diet and the rest of life!

I'm not going to tell you what I just bought at the grocery because it may send you over the edge. My lips are sealed...until Monday, then if you want to know come on over and I'll fill you in. LOL

Have a great weekend!!

I am an eater...but thankfully 2008 made me an exerciser too! I still love to eat, and often give into cravings, but my active lifestyle has made that ok... those 100 calorie packs! You are right, you need about 3 packs to feel satisfied. :)
