Yesterday, I went to Caribou coffee....mmm...remember I am a starbucks girl! I just needed something cold and with caffeine plus light. As I stood at the counter, my hands looked like little specks of chocolate or something was on it...so I tried to wipe it off. But, it would NOT come off!
The YOUNG lady behind the counter said "Do you need a wet paper towel for your hands? " I explained to her that something is on my hand but can't figure what I got on it. She took one quick look and said...."Those are Freckles...well, maybe for you they call them AGE spots".
I was completely speechless....Speechless!Really speechless considering I am turning one year older next week {not dealing to well with that}.
But, she is so right....they are NOT coming off...they are not a true freckle but a rounded shaded small AGE spot...I even googled it. I remember my grandmother use to have them! I even read about a lady who put foundation on her hands to cover them but then realized she needed to "embrace" her spots. Embrace????
Hand foundation is sounding pretty good right now~
Well, I would normally post pictures....but not of my hands...I guess I will of my Caribou coffee~!
How is your week going? Finding any weird spots on your hands??
I am ready to pick up "shells" and put them in MY pocket...summer come quick!

Hi there...visiting from SITS! Oh yes, the blessing of age! I literally laughed out loud when I commented to my husband how I can see wrinkles on my face...his response, "Well, it's not like your in your 20's anymore!" Lovely!!!
I'm having the same problem!!! Not only are age spots starting to appear on my hands, I have this one that appeared on my face during my last pregnancy (4 years ago)and it's driving me crazy!! We must find a cure!
I can so relate. Except mine are on my face! I just wish I had some on my hands. Im going to go see a dermatologist just to make sure it is nothing to worry about, because I am worried. If it wast such a different texture i probably wouldnt worry.
Love and Prayers,
Tim
I am a Starbucks girl too but I really like Caribou every once in a while. :o)
I had an "age" spot pop up on my face under my left eye. I literally got upset. It's really light and my foundation covers it but still... I know it's there. If you find something that helps let us know.
i think it is nerves and when everything works out ...
as it always does ...
they will fade away like memories of these past few weeks! ...
the lady at the grocery store was giving me the evil eye for talking on my phone .. hope you enjoyed your cofee ...
guess we should have kept talking .. you never would have seen them :)
Let's just say that I can practically connect the dots on my bod with all the freckles and age spots going on! LOL!
Just another lovely little remider that we are getting older.
I had them on my face and had them burned off. I suppose we could do the same for our hands...or just embrace. (never!!)
You are so flipping funny!
I burst out laughing when I read that about the spots on your hands! I still am!!!!
Now you have me looking over my hands!
Have a great day!
Oh my goodness... I never really looked and closely analyzed my hands before - but I have a few of those too! (Thanks a lot!) :-) These must have come up sometime this year - after I turned 40.
Surely there is some type of lotion that fades these things. I think I remember Mary Kay having something that lightens age spots. I'll ask my sister (who is an MK director) and will let you know.
:-)
oh, i wanted to see the spot ")
Have a great MON,yikes, Tuesday!
I've got so many freckles all over my body...you can seriously play connect the dots. I'm sure I'm just a step away from age spots. Actually, that reminds me...I need to have my doctor check out some spots.
I had a moment like this 3 weeks ago! I was fixing my hair and found a gray one. I thought red heads weren't supposed to go gray!
I have a scar on my left hand from a sleigh ride that I took when I was little...ended up right at a briar patch. OUCH! Anyhow...hope you have a blessed rest of the week!
Ahhhh -- the joys of getting older! It's not so bad, you'll be ok -- have another caribou coffee!
:)

OMG, you are so funny! I would have flipped out. Just like I did when I found my first white hair recently. Ack!
Girl, I say fly your freak flag and show us a picture of your hands! LOL!!
That young lady working was not raised by my mom. She would have taught me to never say something like that to anyone. I am sure your hands are beautiful and are evidence of the love and work you put into your family.
I really can't believe the girl said for you they were age spots....the NERVE of her!!!!! I have some on my hands but really what is bothering me is that my hands are just looking wrinkled and OLD...YUCK!
I always try to keep Birthday's in perspective cause you know the alternative to a Birthday is worse........
Oh wow, that Caribu coffee looks delish!
You are so funny! I've noticed a few of them on my hands lately too and I have to say that I did not embrace them!
Thanks for stopping by friend...know that you are in my THOUGHTS and prayers!!!
hugs~
I don't have any on my hands but I did go to the dermatologist to check my skin for weird things or just plan age.. and have another appt. scheduled for April 30 to do some cutting off moles...that i'm praying are just simple moles...
Your coffee made me think of making myself one... I think I will! have a good one,
LuLu
Oh, I'm sorry. I've been mourning my increasing wrinkles. I'd been calling them laugh lines, but I've had to "embrace" the fact that they are really just wrinkles. sigh. I'm too young for wrinkles, I just know I am. ;-)
I don't have any of those on my hands. I think it occurs by age.
Oh, girl... there are so many "fun" things about growing older. Just make sure your spirit doesn't go there. Stay young at heart, and everyone will think you're young even when you're 100! That was my grandmother's philosophy, and it worked! :-)
xo,
Sheila :-)
Oh, and I'm a Starbucks girl, too, and I love their tall hot chocolates! Even in intense heat! LOL!
Well, I hope that one day when she has age spots someone points them out just as rude! I can't believe some people!!
Make sure you are at the right place to pick up shells.....sunriseside
oh girl - I know this story well - I went to the derm. last year for the spots - and was told they were age spots - did not like that news too much!
I discovered age spots on my hands about a month or so ago-- NOOOOO!!!! I can't be old enough for that!!! Isn't there some kind of skin lightening cream? What did Michael Jackson use?
I've spotted you all over so I thought I'd stop over and say hello.
I just saw pictures of my hands this past weekend and was mortified! They look like they could belong to my grandmother. I need to break out the hand cream! Haven't seen any age spots but they should arrive any day.
I love your profile pic. :)
Well, I have a burn mark on the side of my left hand - from making over seven dozen cookies for a going-away party for my son's friend last Friday. Proof that, though I'm an empty-nester, I'm still a homemaker.
You know what? With my red hair and freckles my hands, arms, the rest of me... might be covered with 'age spots' or they might be freckles~ I don't even know anymore! But hey, at least they give me a little fake tan with their darkness! ;)
Hang in there, have a super day, and SMILE hun!
xo Les
I keep finding grey hairs. I've always messed with my hair color, but only because I wanted to...a shade lighter, a shade darker...a funky streak here or there. However, now I think I HAVE to color my hair unless I want to have grey hairs popping out everywhere! It's a little frightening! I don't know if I'm ready for that.
Age is a great thing. Think of the wisdom that comes with all those years. My true struggle with growing older is the gray hairs but I still get acne. Now that is just not fair. If I have the gray it's time for the acne to go away.LOL
Love Starbucks Caramel Lattes too!

There are many things that I would like to embrace in this world, but age spots are NOT one of them! I've allowed myself to get lulled into the "I'm getting older, so the weight/wrinkles/gray hair/age spots are OK". Which led to not taking care of myself as well, so that there was more of ALL of those to embrace. I've now decided to embrace good health (along with a few cosmetic aids... ;<] ). And you know what? I don't think the age spots will be so noticable anymore!
That is right! Your birthday is next week!!! Happy birthday! Don't worry about the spots-it could be chin (!!!) hair-not that I would know ANYTHING about that! Getting older stinks some days...
oh girl... (see you are a GIRL still) them are FIGHTING words! haha!
No age spots for me yet...
However, I do have a lot of spots on my arms that I recently got checked out by my doctor. I thought they were sun spots. I call them confetti spots, but my doctor called it something else, of course. I have an appt to see a dermatologist soon for some kind of cream to rub on my arms to make the spots go away. Hmmm...we'll see. Having the spots on my arms is a bit irritating to me though.
Thank goodness for coffee :) I have a few spots! It does seem crazy doesn't it???
This week on the Today show they shared that 40 is the new 20 ~ with that said, I think you have freckles on your hands. That's my story and I'm sticking with it! :)
Jo
Ugh - getting older stinks! But it's better than the alternative, right?! Hee!
I'm dying over the wrinkles I'm seeing on my face now...I am hating that!
personally, i think it was a little rude of her to say that to you.
i'm noticing changes in the backs of my hands too. age spots are probably not far away. :O
I have a lot of freckles but lately I notice their not as cute and I think we can call alot of them age spots! I also have one on my face that I am having removed! Hands are one thing, face is another~I'm not real good at embracing age, I tend to fight it all the way!
:)
Oh my goodness! I'm laughing with you! I remember the day I noticed spots on the back of my hands for the first time. I was driving and was mesmerized and perplexed by these strange marks.
