"Around EVERY corner...."

Can you guess what I joined????I was somewhat "talked into it" but I will protect the guilty. I joined a "warehouse" store...you know the kind that look like a huge warehouse with cement floor and nice little old ladies who give you a "taste" test at every corner you turn. Which "in turn" makes you buy even more!!

I ALWAYS say I will just buy toilet paper and paper towel BUT I end up with all the FANCY stuff like dips...special crackers...organic cookies wrapped individually...etc etc.... So I really don't know if I save one penny! Honestly, I don't think I do! But, I do enjoy shopping there and I am a total "sucker" for their outdoor stuff...what about you????

I buy the big boxes of 36 individual wrapped crackers for lunches~by the time we get to bag 24..no one wants them in their lunch...so I am stuck eating the other 12 bags or passing them out at soccer practices.

Are you a warehouse {Costco or Sam's Club} shopper???

Do you save money {if you do please share}?????

I need some help, here!

I am a Costco member, but I rarely go. I know. But when I need that extra stock up or having a lot of people over, I am so there. I need some new glasses, so I am going for that soon :)

Glad you enjoy yours.

Yes - I belong to Costco. I don't go a lot but there are some things I like to get there. We call it the $100 store! You can go in for a few items and leave with $100 worth!

I want to become a Sam's member...but I still have an issue that I have to have a card to shop there...and I have to spend $40 to have it. I usually go with someone else that has a card when I need something that I need a lot of.

We had been members of Sam's for quite awhile, but recently joined Costco. I, too, love buying in bulk...just something about it. Gives me a feeling of accomplishment...don't really know why! No, I don't think I save any money because I spend so much buying everything there!

I shop at SAMS! I usually buy the meats and fruits. I think we save a lot buy buying there.

I am a Sams Member...really we go for things like Diapers and formula...but you can save...like on the mac and cheese...price it out...and it's a little cheaper..you just have enough for a year is all...lol...Happy SITS day

I shop at Sam's Club. Does it save me money? Not really. I do think I get a better deal there on dog food, paper towels, laundry detergent and coffee beans. However, I've found that you get a better deal if you buy store brand stuff (like canned goods) at the regular grocery store. So...if you buy name brand stuff normally then you'll see a savings shopping at Sam's. If you normally buy the store brand you probably won't see much in savings. Oh...I used to be able to shop at Costco. Oh...I love thee Costco! I miss Costco so much!!!! (I agree with pp- it really was the $100 store for us too!)

It depends on what kind of shopper you are. If you are a sale shopper and coupon clipper, (ala Grocery Game) Costco does NOT save you money. But, if you can RESTRAIN yourself and stick to the BASICS, then Costco is cheaper! Does that make sense?

I try to go once a month and stock up on butter, eggs, cheese, meat, sugar, PB&J, BREAD, olive oils, spices, vinegar, TP, Paper towels....

But I usually end up coming home with a $10 tub of organic animal crackers or $10 chicken and cheese ravioli that somehow doesn't even feed my family?

Love it for a party tho.. when you would run and spend full price on Tostitos and Taco Dip at the Jewel... costco is your place

Busy Bee Suz said...

I am a member of both. I was at costco yesterday. I go every few months and stock up on stuff...mostly t.paper and tissues...some cat food and litter.
I love the coupons costco sends and I feel I really save money this way. Buying in bulk also saves on waste...as long as you use it all. :)

I am a die hard Sam's Club Fan! And yes, I do save money. I don't buy a lot of the boxed items/canned goods because as someone else said, you can get them cheaper by buying the store brand.
I buy frozen chicken breasts (always cheaper by the pound), cheese, milk, eggs, lettuce, fresh vegetables, and frozen tilapia there. Depending on if you are "brand loyal" you can get some personal hygiene stuff for less as well (toothpaste, shampoo, etc.).

No Costco here, but we do go to Sam's once in a while. Hub likes it better than me as I have a small kitchen and no room to store those giant boxes of cereal that he loves to buy!

Have a great week!

I am a Costco member and we LOVE the store! Not always for groceries tho~ we watch for their coupons and have gotten fabulous deals on electronics, plants, kitchen gear, and lots of gift ideas for early Christmas & birthday shoppers. This year, too, I bought flowers for my garden. Their hanging basket prices were half that of ALL our competitors (and better looking too!). We also love to run thru and get a hot dog & a drink for $1.50 (I can feed my whole family for less than $5!)

Oh, ALWAYS go with a list!!
Good luck to you!

I used to be a Sam's club member and LOVED it but there isn't a close Sams or Costco by us now.

We have been members before at a couple of different clubs, but hubby who is a math whiz figured that we weren't really saving any money. He said if you shop sales at the regular stores it's actually cheaper there! So we got our membership $$ back! The only real deals are maybe stuff like tires or something!

I have a Costco card and LOVE it. First--you can always save 5-12 cents on gas. Always a plus. Their meat is always well priced and for a family of 5 we need a lot of meat. I am also a HUGE fan of the Tillamook cheese blocks that are really cheap there. Of course there is milk, cereal, lunchmeat, snacks for the kids......I could go on and on. Like Mari said she calls it the $100 store so true but it's worth it to me!!

We don't have a Costco here...But we were Sam's Club members..Were..is the key word. We spent more money then what we normally would buying things in bulk thinking it would save us money...It never did. The only thing it was great about saving money with was diapers.

I always go into Costco thinking that I will only buy one or two things and than I leave with way too much other stuff!

I belong to Costco and I love it! They have great deals on cleaning products, beer, and cereal.

I am a member of both! I love the stuff other than the food, that middle section is where I get in BIG trouble. I have bought a shed, a playground, books, movies, clothes, patio furniture - you name it!

I am a B.J.'s member. Do I think I save money? Not a chance. I possibly could if I stuck to the list, but these places are so cool. I buy alot of gifts, and stock the pantry with snacks. It's also great when we throw parties. The trays are awesome. It makes shopping easy...not necessarily cheaper.

I am a member of NOTHING. This small town doesn't have such stores. I have to drive 2-3 hour either way to get to one of these stores. So it wouldn't save me any money at all. But I do love a good Cash & Carry Store. They rock!

I am a Costco member. I do buy the snacks, but the same thing the boys will not like one certain kind in the big box and then I am handing them out to others! I buy Oxy Clean in the big box (3 boys need a lot of that)! I really like to buy the meat there and I do think it is cheaper. Pork tenderloins are wonderful and reasonable. Chicken breasts are also good and reasonable. I do get my gas there also which can save up to $.10/gallon!

I also got eye glasses there that were great and cheap and electronics!

Happy bulk shopping!!

i make a list. i stick to the list. i DO NOT veer from the list. i get out of their as soon as items are retrieved and payed for, and i feel a great sense of satisfaction knowing i have overcome the "whare house store."

I'm a Costco member (courtesy of Dad) and never go. I'm a Sam's Club member and you know...I do better when I go to Smart and Final. It's good to get things that you use all the time...but it really is the $100.00 store. Also it's only good if you need big ticket items...like a tv, tires, etc. Regular food...you're better at a restaurant food supply store like Smart and Final...it isn't designed to make you overpurchase...that what Sams and Costco do.
Blessings.

I go to Costco about 2-3 times a year and stock up on napkins, razors, fabric softeners and few other things. I really don't buy many food items there. ( I use the coupons Costco sends out and I try to stick to just those items)
But it is a good place to go during lunch. You don't have to make or buy lunch later with all the snacking.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have a Costco American Express card and it is the best deal for cash back. Especially if someone in your family travels. My husband travels for business so we always have big expense reports.
Our cash back rebate usually totals over $1400.00 a year.
3% on dining, 2% on travel, 1% on everything else.

I am trying not to join one of those stores...I am not sure I would save any money and when I have bought in bulk in the past we get tired of it before it is gone. My mom has a membership, so I tag along at Christmas time because they usually have great deals on toys.

Jen @ tatertotsandjello.com said...

I am a Costco shopper. Although lately I have been trying NOT to go there. I love the prices, but I always end up spending $300 or $400 on the "deals". It has a way of wrecking my budget.

XOXO

LOL!! I am a member of SAM's Club, and I just read all of the previous comments! So many others said it perfectly...it is absolutely..."the $100.00 store!" It seems that no matter what I go for...usually dog food, P. towels, T. paper and bottled water (hubby redeems the bottles..thank goodness), I almost never make it out of there without taking a BIG chunk out of a hundred dollar bill!

I used to be a Sam's Club member but I don't think I saved money either. I stopped going. I've heard Costco is really good though. I just don't like going into town, so that's another reason I am not a member of either.

Mari was so right-you always spend a $100 it seems...
I try to not go-I get stuck in the books, and justify buying too many...so I send my hub. and he buys he paper products.
However-If you go to Costco-their chicken salad is TO DIE FOR. Just buy it! It is great on croissants for a ladies lunch-

but
she did return vinigar .. with the smallest of small containers from the store and then she returned 1 can of soup in 5 years ... and she acts like i am supposed to be impressed!

We aren't members of any of those stores. It's just the husband and I so I don't see any reason for us to buy in bulk.

We just recently became Costco shoppers this year! LOVE the place! In fact, we had to agree only to shop there once a month because we were spending WAY TOO MUCH! They have so many GREAT deals though! Isn't it funny how we really do go ahead and purchase the items they have you sampling? Funny to them too that we buy right into their plan.....

I'm not much here on this one!

"Hello... It's Me Again..." said...

I belong to Sam's Club. There are certain items I buy regularly like mesquite grilled chicken breasts. Since I work full-time and some days are busier than others, it just makes sense to have quicky meal options available.

I joined this year because I had a special to join for $10. I don't know that I would join for their regular rate of $40.

I've bought tires from their tire shop too.

I love going when they have samples so you can try new things.

My sister is a member at Sam's Club so I go as her guest about three times a year. It's kind of a girls-day-out even for us and I enjoy it so much!

I remember going to Costco with my mom. It was so huge and so wonderful. :) Where we live now, the closest big warehouse store is 2 hours away. So, we don't belong to one. It's so easy to spend a lot of money when we get the chance to visit one.
