Mom's {Summer} School

Have you seen that commercial with the kid who gets out of the pool and taps his ears {like getting water out of his ears}instead all these numbers and equations come out. It is suppose to be how kids loose so much {school} during the summer.

This summer, in midst of swimming, roller coasters and ice cream ....my kids have to do {summer} work each morning. They have to do math, reading, writing "responses" to what they read, do timed tests and anything else I can think of. Even my 4 year old has her own book.

Sometimes....there are "wimpers" or "whines" but overall it has gone well and they are moving along!

Even a little {candy} can make the task bearable!!!!!!!!!!!!

My kids all have summer work we are doing as well. I'm not going to let my kids read this or they will want candy to get through their work too! ;-)

Great idea! I do worry about my girl forgetting so much over the summer and am also taking steps to ensure that doesn't happen! Even "homework" is fun when there is candy involved! :)

We do the same thing here-I brought it along to the cottage! We start the A.M. with schoolwork.
I never thought to bribe with candy-that might help with the tears on the bad days-
I also loved your father's day of renting a boat-how fun that looked!!!
Remember, to look me up when you arrive up here, I am waiting to see you, and your kids-Mine are really excited to meet yours!

I think that is awesome! I wish I could afford to homeschool so I had access to the resources you do!

I always did this every summer with my children, too. Britnee and Brett would also sign up for reading competitions at the local library wherever we were for baseball that particular summer. Of course it was a competition so they were very into that. I have some very competitive kids. They may complain, but in the end, they will appreciate mama caring enough to do this.

We are doing the same thing. Lexi has to read every day and we also practice math, spelling, language, etc. Just trying to keep a bit of it in her brain through the summer.

Alright! You're ready to homeschool year-round now.;)
I'll have to try that candy thing. It just may work here too.

I do that too. Each year. It's mandatory - but I never gave incentives. My kids would dig that.

No add the candies don't eat them LOL! Sounds like a great idea to me. We do summer work to but not nearly as structured. I have been inspired :-)
