An Easy Kid "Activity"

This week, I am going to share with you some "clips" of our trip. My parents have a wonderful cottage on Lake Huron (One of the Great Lakes) in Michigan. The kids love it there...it's the perfect place to sink your feet in the hot sand with the cool breeze coming off the water.

One thing my kids LOVE to do is "paint rocks" off the beach. It's so funny b/c you would think this is some BIG activity each year we go! My mom lays out a tablecloth with all kinds of paints and brushes. The kids search the beach for those perfect rocks to paint!

My mom takes one painted rock from all the kids to put in her landscape (big deal for the kids). It's so easy...you could do this at home. Of course, what is nice about painting at the cottage is when the kids are all done. Just tell them to run in the lake to wash off..now that is nice!

How fun! The lake looks so beautiful. I took the car ferry across Lake Michigan one summer after working at a camp- it was at night and I'll never forget how beautiful the stars were without all of the city lights.

That looks like fun! We used to paint rocks all the time while growing up. The bummer is that the rocks around here are so jagged that they really don't take paint well. (we tried last summer)

Thanks for sharing!

What a cute yearly activity! Just write the date on the back and add it to the land scape. Years late the kids can look back and see what it was they painted when they were such n such age!

Was the water cold? My hub's aunt/uncle have a cabin on one of the Michigan lakes, and he said the water is always freezing (at least to us southerners...my inlaws think it feels warm..haha).

Fun idea with the rocks!

I can't believe how in sync our kids are-at this very moment-as I look at blogs-the boys are painting ROCKS!
I know! You think I am making this up, but my six year old just got back out after smashing his finger with one of them, I just got a band-aid on it, while your page loaded. I laughed outloud, and showed the boys what your kids were doing. That helped dry S.'s tears-and gave us inspiration-I asked for a red/white/blue rock like one of yours!
Happy Summer Day to YOU!
