There have been quite a few people this month...acquaintances...new friends...church people
that are reading...
Wow...it makes you think what you write. When I wrote in the "beginning" of this blog...it was to strangers...people who didn't know me-
But, now it's parents of my kid's friends...it's the deacon down the aisle...it's the wife of my son's coach...it's the 2nd grade teacher and maybe even the principal-
It's a bit "frightening"...
Do I really want all these people to know-
my kids do eat pop tarts for breakfast and sometimes we skip lunch and just eat a blizzard?
Or
my daughter is concerned about the "reproductive" system of mermaids?
Or
that I am so conservative, go to tea parties, call my senators and even turn off Nick Jr. at 5:00 to watch Glenn Beck?
Or
that in midst of all my "busyness" I secretly would like to go take a nap in my bed
I don't know....
it's a bit odd...

I am an extremely private person when it comes to myself and my family. I won't even post pictures online or any personal info due to the fact that at any time all of it can be googled in the future. The internet is forever. And yet I do enjoy reading recipes, hearing about fun kid activities, and sometimes even being able to relate, and sometimes not. However, the whole privacy issue is a concern for me. I don't think people realize that what you put out there can at anytime be googled by employers, other people clear across the world. If you are comfortable with it, I think its o.k. to share, but for me I'm much to private, so I remain Anonymous online. It is so much fun to read blogs and get tips, like recipes and stuff. If I ever did something like this that is what I would do and I would not make public personal views and family stuff, but I think sharing craft things and recipes is great!
I often think the same thing! If it really bothers you, you could always go private, but make sure you send me an invitation before you close up shop!
I'm so glad you go to Tea Parties, are conservative and listen to Glenn Beck. I'm more endeared to you than ever. I think its fine to be who you are. Of course you know Pres. Obama is taking names now so you might end up on his list. ;)
I post about various subjects from kids to politics to loving Jesus too. But it is what it is and I've never written anything I regret or wouldn't want anyone to read. My blog is definitely rated G and will always be. I don't want to censor myself because of "who" may be reading.
Keep writing, we'll keep reading.

It's kind of nice they are interested, but at the same time, if you want to use your blog as a journal and vent, etc., it would be difficult to do. You'd always feel like you have to watch what you say. :(
I LOVE tea parties. In fact, I slyly suggested to my oldest daughter that perhaps she ought to have a tea party bday this year...
I have the family blog and never told them or my good friends about the public one. If they found it, that's fine, but it gives me a little breathing room.
I personally don't think that being a private person, (when it comes to the worldwide web), is about hiding who you are, but rather perserving a part of your life you hold special from the outside world. My personal relationships and family members are off limits with the web. After all, Gosh if my mom had posted special moments we had, and pictures of me during my life without asking me or thinking of whether I may not like that in the future, I may feel a bit exploited. I think a good question to ask is, "Is this special moment meant for me and my kids or the whole planet" I love all the great ideas and fun things we can share as women, but I also see a lot of personal stuff that I think is a bit over the top. Someday our kids will be googled, and I think we need to ask ourselves are we crossing lines with their special moments and privacy. Will our kids pay a price for that, and or resent that. Anyhow something to think on this post, which I do think raises important questions on privacy.
Congrats on the new readers, but yes, it is kind of wierd when you begin blogging writing to strangers and then learn that people you KNOW in real life are reading...
I like that you keep your blog real and true to yourself. It is a good thing and is most likely what has drawn your "new" readers. :D Just keep doing what you're doing - especially the pop tart and Blizzard stuff. That is the best! lol
This is a bit exciting and a little unnerving all mixed together isn't it? I wonder some times if anyone I "know" reads my blog. :o)
You have such a lovely blog! Anyone who reads it friends, family, and strangers alike would all be blessed for sure! :o)
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
Thanks so much for stopping in at my blog! Isn't it crazy how people know stories about your life, or have so much more insight into who you are than they would had they just been another soccer mom? I've had a few of those instances myself since I've started blogging.
Love your blog!
I didn't tell any of my friends I was starting a blog and then one day my husband mentioned it to a friend of mine and she was shocked I didn't tell her... ugh so then it kinda came out but never by me. She told someone and so on. I was getting my hair cut today, infact and my hair stylist said "hey I read blog.... " I didn't know what to say. What if I said I had a horrible hair day? what would she have thought... but I've decided I'm not going to think about it and continue to write and just be me. your blog is wonderful!! ANd yea for Glenn Beck! :)
xo,

It's not odd - you're like the rest of us! I've been surprised but the people in my life outside of blogdom who have told me they read my blog too.
Well to some it may be weird, but I am who I am and I invite people I know & my friends & my family to come enjoy what I have blogged about... But if you’re uncomfortable then I would put my blog on private... Of course you should invite us who do love your stories... Have a great day and let us know what you decide.

I'm with you. It's weird. I do censor myself for the unknown audience. But, it's still weird, not knowing who is lurking. ~Mindy
Yeah, this happened to me at church one day. It was pretty eerie. Not that I have a huge following or anything, but I felt so exposed. It was like that dream where you realize you're walking around naked and no one tells you to put clothes on...weird.
It's interesting, isn't it? I'm fine with strangers knowing my "stuff", but it kind of freaks me out to think what if an acquaintance knew my "stuff"? Yikes.
Every few months I get nervous about the whole blog thing and want to start deleting. Then I talk myself out of it. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I worry about safety issues. I worry about who's reading that I don't know is reading (not that I'm saying anything I wouldn't say anywhere else; it's just disconcerting not knowing who's reading.)
But I love the friends I've made while blogging...You're right. It's weird.
Hi Sandy Toes,
I don't and wouldn't post anything I wouldn't want anyone to see. I worked in a prison where 60%of the men there were child molesters. This being said, I am very careful of what I post when it comes to my grandkids...
I've seen people post pictures of there children in the bath and it makes me cringe.
As far as you posting about eating Pop Tarts for breakfast or skipping lunch to eat a blizzard-
To me that is just keeping it real. We all do that.
I too am a conservative so I enjoy hearing what you have to say.
In the end Sandy Toes, I really "try" to only care what God thinks about my life... If I'm doing his will all should be well. I guess that's a nice way of saying I don't care what people think of me. (but do care what God thinks about me-Isn't that who's important?)
I think your blog is great. I've never seen anything on here that I would find questionable. But you have to go with what's on your heart. Just know I think you are some kind of wonderful.
Robin~♥
I can't beg my family to read...so I am pretty safe...LOL!
I can totally relate to this post...which is why my blog is private!! But, I do love reading your blog! If you would like an invite to mine, just let me know!
I told nobody about my blog for almost a year---not my son, not my parents, not my friends.
They all know about it now, and it really does slightly change how I write and some days that really frustrates me.
Here from SITS and I know what you mean! The other day, a friend said to me, "I can't believe you got into the elevator with the guy wearing the ski mask!!" It startled me. That she knew. I forgot that a long time ago I had shared my blog address.
I went private one time - for about a week. It was exhilarating. I invited a few people. Re-did my blog. Took off some pictures and posts. Then went public again.
Yay for being conservative, too! Spread the word that people MUST find out who their Congressman and Senators are and tell them how you feel about things, how you want them to vote. People can't just sit by now and watch it happen. If they care, they must be active in turning things around.
Dropping by from sits.
Happy Saturday everyone!
Make it a happy day!

(Interesting comments today, ST-)
I have the principal and vice principal reading my blog-and other people I know.
I think you keep it fun, wimsical, and cute-nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed-I hope to follow in your blogging footsteps-I enjoy reading your blog!
Ps. I saw your mom today while I was out with my mom and sis-She looked great, and it was nice to say hello!

I ride a fine line in the middle. I work for a well known organization and bc of that, I have no photos of my self and rarely any pics of our little bird posted. I keep work COMPLETELY separate from personal. I have not always but this work place is very political. And I so want to write about certain people and their foolish foolish ways. LOL.
I love the blog and will never give it up but I don't invite work place colleagues into my sassy fun world either. Other jobs, oh yes, but not here.
Good luck...I can see the pros and cons of both vantage points. But keep in mind, if the moms of other kids on the soccer team are not your friends, it makes a difference how they handle the info.
No one I know IRL reads my blog so I guess I don't worry too much. Not having kids means I don't have to worry about child molesters. Maybe cat molesters... LOL!
i hear you...
I think it really has to do with what the purpose of your blog is. Mine is to share with supporters, friends and family about our ministry over here. And this is a great way to do it and for the grandparents to see their grandkids. Then when I found out it could be a blog book, that sold me on making me do it more to record for our family what is going on. So for us, our purpose is to Glorify God in how he is using us over here and record our lives for the blog book as well as update our family/friends/supporters on God working over here. So, it needs to be public.
BUT, I am realizing there are things I want in the blog book but not on the internet, due to issues with teammates or things GOd is working on with me...that is private, so I do those, but leave it as a draft to then put in the blog book later. Does this makes sense?
Wow I said a lot!
