A week to remember~

Sunday, my husband picked up my son from a week trip up in Michigan with his Papa. I really didn't want to be part of the {pickup} b/c I knew there would be tears. Then I would be right in there crying...maybe even more. Literally, my heart aches that my son cannot have this {time} with his grandpa. Unless, we plan....travel....etc. Oh...how I long to live close to my parents but not so much for me but for my kids.

My son and his Papa had a wonderful time. My dad took my son to the Orvis fly fishing school in Traverse City, MI. They went to my parents lake cottage on the OTHER side of Michigan. This is where they fished and fished and more fishing on my dad's boat on lake Huron. My son caught some big fish and even scaled them and cooked them.

They went out for breakfast...chocolate chip pancakes {just want my son loves}. They shopped! Well, at "men" stores like fish and bait stores or Cabalas. My son drove tractors...he drove boats...he shot BB guns. I am sure he ate a lot of candy and ice cream plus swimming and doing flips into the lake.

Just him and his Papa...doing what they both love~

I know my son hated to say "goodbye"...goodness I have tears in my eyes writing this. See, that is why I didn't go!

Oh, the goodbyes! I hate them! My husband's mom was here last week and I was actually glad that her flight left so early that my husband took her while the kids were still asleep. They said their goodbyes before bed and it didn't seem like as much torture. My son cried, "Why can't everyone we love just live in the same town as we do?" I thought that was a pretty good question.

Time spent with grandparents are meant to treasure. This is why we moved across the country...to be closer to family for my girls. IT is tough to be far away. Take care, suz

That is so sweet! Probably hard to tell who had the most fun -- your Dad or your son! Great memories were made, I'm sure of that!

aww too sad..But glad to hear he had a great time..I was on the Canadian side of Lake Huron..I love Lake Huron..Its so beautiful I'm about 45mins away from there..But I'm real close to Lake Erie...It's beautiful too but I find Lake Huron cleaner then lake Erie..

Spending time with grandparents is the best and those memories last forever. Seems like they had a perfect time together.

So sweet! It is such a blessing to live near family...I know I'm lucky. Growing up we NEVER lived near any of our family and I always wanted to. Now my kids live near all 20 of their cousins!

What a great time your son must have had...and Papa too!
