"Recession" Fall Decorating Part 3

First, I have a question..."Have you ever taken a "fall decor" walk around your home, apartment or where ever you {hang} your hat?"

Monday morning I DID the stroll with my pair of clippers in hand. I walked around and clipped a pine tree branch here...a stick branch there and berry/leaf plant here.

Picked up a few leaves and pine cones while I strolled. It is amazing what you will find just in your backyard.

Well, I take all this stuff...FREE stuff and make arrangements in my planters. After summer is over, I clean out my hanging planters off my porch or on my wooden fence door. The I make fall arrangements in both of them. It is VERY festive and full of Fall fun! Plus with the colder weather the {stuff} really keeps!

I went to Walmart and spent about ten bucks buying little white and orange pumpkins and some gourds plus a bulk of 3 Indian corn. Then I go to work!

So the next time you Fall cleanup..DON'T take down those planters till AFTER fall!

p.s. If your neighbor has a great pine tree or something else you would love a piece of...ASK! I do! Most people are more giving in the Fall and are fine with a little pruning from the neighbor!

Using pieces of nature is a clever, cheap and beautiful idea. I wish I weren't living in a flat.

I love this idea too. I have used weeds in my floral arrangements for fillers...it is all useful!

Great idea! My only problem would be the squirrels feasting and destroying those arrangements so quickly! Last year, they tried to eat fake berries!

Have a fun weekend!

It looks great!! Some years (around my home) the corn makes it in the arrangement on my porch and some years it is eaten or drug off by critters!

I'm envious. It's 90 degrees today and a hot breeze blowing. I want to clip fall foilage and have pumpkins. I dare not buy them for outdoors lest the rot within minutes! So I live vicariously through friends like you, Ms. Toe! ;=)

XO,

Sheila :-)
