Making a Williamsburg {Wreath}

Today, I am going to show you how to make a "Williamsburg" wreath. We use to live in Northern VA and I loved going down to Old towne Alexandria and looking at the Christmas decorations. It looks like it came right out of the early 1800's. With fresh pineapple and apple wreaths everywhere you turn!

Well, after much trying and retrying through the years..what works...what DOESN'T work (especially when using real fruit)! I came up with this...

So this is what you need:

hammer and nails

fresh fruit( apples, oranges and a pineapple--all of these need to be halved)

a piece of thin metal or 1/2 inch wood (I have even used a paint stick...it works)

You take your metal and put 5 nails spread apart to fit a pineapple in the middle then an apple and orange on both sides. I also put a nail on top of the right and left side...then take the nail out to have holes.

Take wire and put through the holes and tie around your wreath.

Or even better if hanging on a gate or fence ...go through the fence and tie on the back to the fence for more "security".

Halve your fruit. I recommend you hollow out your pineapple b/c it will be WAY to heavy.

Stick your fruit on the nails...usually the pineapple goes in the middle. It can be a bit messy or juicy but with patience it will work and look great! What is really pretty is putting a {flood light} on it at night..it looks so pretty!

Tomorrow, I am going to show you a "swag" I did with garland and one pineapple...super easy!

Your wreath is beautiful. The fresh fruit reminds me of the 1800's! :o) When I was a child, my step mom put an apple and an orange in our stockings!
Such simpler times. :o)

What a great idea. So cute. Real wreaths smell so much better than the dusty,musty ones from the attic! Cute..... I always love pineapples too.

That's a really pretty wreath! I know the pineapple means welcome, so it's a nice addition to the Christmas wreath.

It looks beautiful. I have always wondered how the got the pineapples to not weigh down the gorgeous wreaths.

My BFF lives in Williamsburg, and I love, love, love visiting her. Especially around the holidays. The decorations are so beautiful. Perhaps next year, I will be inspired to make one - or maybe this!
