It takes a teacher...

There are many types of families....{sports} families , {musical} families, {outdoors} families, {educational} families...I suppose the list could go on and on...

We fall into the {sports} families...my kids love sports and we love watching...if someone is not "playing" then we are probaly "watching". But beyond sports, we do expect our children to do well in school and strive to do their best but I must face it. My son especially would much rather have a "ball" in his hand than a 25 chapter book.

But, over the past quarter I have noticed that my son is taking a {huge} interest in Science and electrical {things} and machines. He even asked me to go to the library to get some Science books. I almost fell over and of course, we were in the car in two minutes {flat}. He has read those books from cover to cover...then took his Christmas money and bought all these electrical kits, wires, conducters and spent hours.

He even built from scratch a "sweet tart" hole maker....it drills a hole in a sweet tart and you can make candy necklaces. Maybe he could mass produce them for an Etsy shop.

All this interest is b/c of his teacher! She has encouraged him and acknowledged his understanding in the sciences. She even has let him come into the lab while my other child is at practice and work on some of the experiments he is doing in class. This teacher is interested in his {creations} and encourages him.

I remember my college education professor once saying to all the "teachers-to-be"-

The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates.

The great teacher inspires.
