New Year's Resolutions in February????

This weekend, we were invited to dinner with a family we knew from church. They have older children. They are the kind of kids you meet and think to yourself I pray that my kids turn out even "close" to these young adults. They are such a testimony...the whole family!

As we were driving back, we all were talking about how we need to just slow down. Our weeks are just jammed pack and even though we try to sit down as a family to eat. It's somehow usually rushed in some way or between this or that...it's fast food or takeout. It's completely self afflicted and I know if I wiped everything out. Somehow someway...it would all creep back again..maybe differently but I just know it would!

It's like you wake up one day and realize that {life} is just out of sorts and you don't even know how to find that balance again. But, you do realize that your kids ate this on Monday...

then this on Tuesday....

then this on Thursday...

and so on!

So if there is such a thing as a New Year's resolution in February...I am doing it.

It starts with planning...time management and making that food list and dinner plan and STICKING TO IT!

{Sorry, Mr. Ying, no sweet and sour chicken for a whole month...}

It is so easy to become victim of the fast food trap...especially with after school activities and sports.

Good luck.....I know you can do it:)

Oh, I know what you mean! I don't typically watch Oprah, but I watched her last week when she did a show on Food Inc. It was a real kick in the head. Soooo, I promptly headed to Costco & Kroger, bought a ton of organic and healthy food, and decided that the health and future eating habits of my children was up to me and me alone. That is a lot to take on, but I know I can do it. You can too!!!! Moms unite! :)

Oh yeah, we've had drive-through fast food way too many times lately too! Good luck with your resolutions and I'll try too!

We were eating out constantly and at the beginning of the year I said no more (well, only occasionally). I have been doing meal plans each Monday for the week and we are loving it. I also made a challenge to myself to make at least 1 new recipe a week, whether it is an appetizer, main course or dessert...doesn't matter. Just something new. I can feel that I am already getting in a great habit and we are ALL enjoying it. I also have been reviewing the "new" recipes we tried from the previous week. You can do it!!!!♥

This sort of thing has been totally hitting me lately too! Tonight Kaishon wanted lambchops. What in the world... I made pork chops (which turned out terribly I might add) and when he asked if they were lamb chops, I just pointed to the chops part of the packaging I had ripped off. I know. I know. Terrible mothering!
