your own mother or
When you became a mother
0r
maybe your "grandmother".....
or some have a "god mother"
BUT there is another type of "mother" all in a category of it's own.....
ROOM MOTHER
these are the women who can stretch $1.00 per student and develop a simple "theme" into an amazing class party
They have over 100 ways to use gumdrops from art projects to class treats~
They have subscriptions to Family Fun, Parent magazine and probaly save every issue for {possibly} the next year~
They love being in the classroom (most are teachers themselves)...they can make a "killer" cupcake and serve it with a smile~
When you are thinking about what dishes to bring to Aunt Myrtle's house before school holiday...they are home trying to make a new food "creation" using toothpicks and kabob sticks instead of just serving fruit and cheese in bowl.
They are the women who are huddled around the $1.00 shelves at Target wondering what they can incorporate in the class Christmas party.
These are the women who probaly don't work out of the home but if they were paid by the hour they would be too expensive for the biggest corporation.
A room mother does it because she LoveS it and it gives her that outlet to express her
Creative side....

So true - sometimes I miss those days.
Hope you & your family have a great Thanksgiving holiday.
Oh, the room mother is a gem alright! (and that turkey is adorable...)
I haven't been a room mom in several years, but I always had so much fun doing it! Great memories, for sure! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
THATS ME!!!! But I do it for HOME Schoolin :)
Clever women indeed!
Wishing you a marvellous thanksgiving!!! *kisses* HH
Aww that turkey is so precious! What a cute idea!
Awwwwwwww. You are such a great Mommy! Can you believe my sons school didn't even have a Thanksgiving party? What is this world coming too? : )
I think that is probably YOU!! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!♥
This is so sweet and SO true!!
That is NOT me-I am calling the room mom this morning to find out what I was supposed to bring today...because I already forgot!
I am a bad, bad mom for school parties!
Well I dont know about you but I give that room Mother credit. I am a class representative and we are not allowed to have elaborate parties in my kids school. We are not even doing anything for thanksgiving. We are allowed to bring in treats during lunch and that is all.
Ohhh, so true. I was never Room Mother, but always signed up to do lots of volunteering in the classrooms during those years. My favorite was always helping with the class parties. So Fun!!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I took a break from being Room Mom this year...being one for 2 classrooms for 2 years in a row kind of takes it out on you. It does take a pretty creative person to come up with some of the crafts/activities...thank goodness for blogs and "borrowing" ideas.
Aren't they amazing!!!!
So very true - I enjoyed every moment of being room mom for both of my children's classrooms. I'm a former teacher, and got to do all of the "fun" things about teaching without the "headachce"! :-)
Cute turkey, btw.
Love the fruit turkey! Wish I had thought of that.
Stopping by from SITS.
hello,
i love ur blog and the way u have designed it..have a good day!
I will never forget Mrs. Torkelson, room mom extrodinaire of the 1970's! Caremel apples, popcorn balls and cupcakes--ALL homemade! My son is almost a teenager, so my room mom days are over :(
