At Nest To Keep dot com, she is hosting a Fall cooking fest! There are already some great recipes I want to try!
My kids have had no school this week due to the wind storm. So they have spent a lot of time outside riding bikes, chalk coloring and building a fort out of bark (that will be another post). They also have enjoyed picking pears off our tree...at first I was not sure but they are VERY delicious and ripe!
So with so many pears and everyone home...a warm "pear" crisp is what this family needs! It turned out wonderful...so good in fact, that I was going to take a picture of it after it was cooked but it was ALL gone! You could use this recipe with any type of fruit...apples would be great. It is so sweet and the topping is thick and yummy!
Pear Crisp Recipe
6 Large Pears
1 cup of sugar
pinch of salt
2 T of cinnamon and nutmeg
2 stick of butter
2 cups of flour
2 cups of brown sugar
Preheat oven to 350; Peel pears and cut into cubes;Mix pears, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and 2 T of flour in pan (8 x8);
Combine butter, remaining flour and brown sugar and mash until crumbly.
Pour topping over pear mixture and sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake 40-45 minutes. Enjoy!

I love the colors in that first picture!
That looks easy enough that I could make it! Not too many ingredients, either!
I LOVE Apple Crisp, but I've never tried it with pears. I'm definitely going to have to give your recipe a go...sounds so yummy!!
Kids home from school, riding bikes, playing outdoors, picking fresh fruit, baking. Sounds like a week right out of heaven. : ) Enjoy,
M.L.

Thanks for the great recipe. Love fall and recipes like this!!!
That pear crisp sounds delicious! I love fall desserts like that, so thank you so much for the recipe! I am also so excited about your idea of a newborn onesie and monogram/date. What a cool idea! And I just found someone locally who does monogramming, so perhaps I will have to ask her to do one for the new baby! Thanks for the idea!!
Carrie
Oh my that sounds good!
Thank you for visiting my blog.
The reason why the Caylee M. Anthony story is still getting so much attention is because they're still looking for the girl. The mother makes up stories where the girl is and the names of people whom she gave the girl to are names from different books. They also found evidence of a decomposing body in the trunk of her car. Most people think that the mother and her family are hiding something.
The pear crisp looks yummy and the receipe sounds easy enough to follow (even for me).
Best wishes from Orlando, FL

Hey, Sandy Toes! Your blog is so neat! I love it! I read over some of your older posts--love the idea of the recycled birdbath and the beautiful flowers with the bittersweet! I also noticed in that picture your Southern Living at Home Southern Sayings platter!! Don't you just love it? I can't wait to try that pear crisp recipe! I need to pick up a few more pears. I was going to use mine in a salad--but the dessert looks yum.
