A Work In Progress

This spring, my master bedroom was painted but the first color was AWFUL!  I walked in after it was painted and all I could think of was a seventies "peach"...I almost cried.  So I had it repainted the next day with just a simple beige.  I was beside myself picking out colors so I went with the safest.  I then bought this wonderful comforter and threw in some red to add some "excitement".

I have these black iron candle votives and hung them over the bed.  My husband was a bit anxious at first...bumping his head or catching everything on fire if they were lit.  But, it looks really nice when they are lit....I was thinking of putting a great shear bow or something to "jazzy" them up a bit!

I found this great iron "thingy"...painted it and hung it on the wall!  It is SO HEAVY...you would not believe how heavy this is!  I have cream iron and black iron in the same room...I am sure I am breaking an HGTV number one rule!

Well, blog friends who can decorate their pants off....what else can I do with this room???I am on the search for a great chair to put in the corner. There is a big dresser not shown on the other wall.  I  have a great candle stand in the room that is waist high but other than that...it needs something else!

I THINK...but I am pretty sure... we have the same bedding!! I can't enlarge your picture, so I'm not positive. I recognize the red pillow. (of which I didn't actually buy...lol) I love the iron thing on the wall. Pretty!

I LOVE IT! I have no suggestions... Oh, maybe you could find a little table like the one over at http://www.browneyedfox.blogspot.com

I like it how you set it up but man, Carissa (the brown eyed fox) has some great ways of getting our imaginations going. I love that little green table she posted about yesterday. See what you think.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I've been blogging for about a year or so. I took down my old posts earlier in the week though.. SO, I'm off to a fresh start. I hope you come by to see me often. I'm adding you to my list.

I love your photos Sandy Toes!

Have a great day!

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog. Yes, I've learned that playing with layout is very addicting!
Love your site (and those hanging candles).

Wow, your bedding is so pretty! I love the red with the black and white. And that white iron-thing is just perfect, even in the same room as black iron.

The best suggestion is to decorate with the things you love. Pictures of the two of you, sayings that are meaningful, and items that bring back special memories. Those are the things that make a room feel warm and personal.

I love that iron "thingy"! I'm always up for a great wrought iron chandelier!

I think you are off to a great start! I like decorating with architectural elements like old windows, shutters, columns, pieces of molding, etc. They make a room interesting. A piece of artwork in the kind of look you like would be good too. I know Hobby Lobby has their prints 50% off this week because I am planning to go look for one to go in my bathroom. Family pictures are also good. I am saying all this and I need to take my own advice!

I like the candles over the bed...I might add something else up there if you can, maybe another wrought iron thingy or something...the candles are delicate and maybe adding something else up there will balance the weight a little bit? I am eager to see what you do because I almost bought candles very similar to those but then got intimidated because I wasn't sure how to use them! :) Good luck!

I love the candle holders, I have an iron one too that holds 8 smaller votives.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I really think you should put a beveled mirror above the sconces somehow to reflect the light from the candles. Love the cream iron wall art and your bedding. I just did a master bedroom makeover as well. Don't know if you already saw it on my blog but here it is if you want to check it out: http://mommatobug.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-bedroom-makeover-is-complete.html

You can probably tell I love red too! The bathroom I am working on is painted a dark red and I want to bring in more black and white. I think I am going to make a black and white checked shower curtain like in the picture. Even though I love the bathroom in that picture, it's too white for me. As for the fleur de lis curtain clips, I can't remember where in the world I got them. Sorry! I've had them for a few years. I'll let you know if I happen to see any while shopping.

Thanks for stopping by again and your sweet comments. The room is great. My only suggestion would be to place something a little larger on the wall with the lights to anchor the room.

I had to giggle at the peach. When I was first married we had peach and hunter green in the bathroom ~ yuck!

Love the hanging candles. I did a similar treatment in our master bedroom but recycled some moulding ledge type shelves and used juice glasses as votives. Because I was paranoid about burning down our house I used fake battery operated votives and some scrapbook paper to conceal them. It's a very pretty effect and would be very cute in yours as well. You can see them in my September archives under "Come On Baby Light My Fake Fire"
