Watching from the Portable Potty!

On Friday, I was given tickets to see Sarah Palin at a rally. At the last minute, I decided to go and take the kids out of school to come, too. My son has been studying the Bill of Rights, voting and elections at school. So I thought what better way to make it all come alive than to be part of a political rally for a President/Vice-President nominee.
Of course , my son was very intrigued with the secret service men, metal detectors and the sharp shooters on the rooftops.

We were there very early but still it was jammed!!! This man told me to move up and get those kids to the front to see..."They are the future!" How right he was!

Of course, on a funny note, Mrs. Type A personality I am! We get there very early...stand there over an hour and half and that was after the line past the metal detectors...Palin gets on stage...starts to talk! WHAT DO I HEAR???? My middle child saying "I have to go to the bathroom!".

OH my...it was like the parting of the red sea...we had to squeeze ourselves from the front through hundreds of people to get to the porta potty in the BACK with an umbrella stroller!!! Then after, my son asks "Can't we go back to our spot?"

That man was so awesome to tell you that. I bet it was so great to see her too. Next time make them wear a diaper. I don't care if they are 18 or not. That is the last thing you want to hear :)

How stinking cool to see her in person! Lucky duck... Even if it was from the Porta Potty vantage point. :)

I'm still laughing at Jan's comment-What a crack up!
And your "parting of the red sea" you girls are just too funny! Well, at least you got to see her up close for a little bit! :) Even if it was only for a second!

How funny - doesn't that always seem to happen when you planned it out so well? What a great experience though to bring your son to see Sarah! Something he will never forget! Even if it was by the porta potty!

What a privilege! I'm glad to read about all these Palin fans. Its absolutely heart-wrenching to read of the opposing ticket... so thank you, thank you, thank you.

Too funny!...well, not when it's happening to YOU!! Why does it never fail that kids have a way of needing to go to the bathroom at the most inconvenient times?? Been there and done that a thousand and one times!! :)

I would love to have seen Sarah Palin! I think she's a keeper!

Oh man what a moment! Haven't we all been there with you.

I once had to "drop off" at the busy Atl. airport. You "can't" leave your car and mine said, "I have to go". What a panicy moment!

So seriously funny : ). And typical! Those port a potty's gross me out, but Kaishon thinks it is SO cool that he can go to the bathroom in a plastic building. Come to think of it, my husband likes them too. Boys are WIERD : ) but wonderful!

This will be a memory you can definitely share with him in years to come. "Can we go back to our spot?" This was hilarious. Sorry again!

One year at college a friend went with her daughter to see a candidate in a inside venue. The students were warned the Secret Service do not take kindly to jokes, its very serious business. The boy in front of them had a camera and the SS asked if he was here with his girlfriend, he said no, so the agent picked up the camera, took a picture of my friends very cute daughter and said "explain that one to her" It was great.

Monogramchick said...

Weriously?! That is hysterical. I love that you went and that you took your children and I LOVE that you had to go to the porta-potty after working your way to the fron of the mass crowd--I am so sorry!

What an incredible experience for the kids...I am glad you took them!

When you have kids, someone always has to go to the bathroom...and it is never at a good time!

Classic...kids always have the best timing. My son did that at Disneyland after we waited in line for 30 minutes to ride Dumbo. We were next in line and the urge to use the restroom came. Love the story

Wonderful that you got to go!! And take the kids, too, despite the potty break. I just bought "Sarah Palin: a New Kind of Leader," and can't wait to start reading it tonight.

Pray for Sarah and the country!!
