A Faint Memory...

This past weekend, I had a quick coffee with a girlfriend at Starbucks. She just had her third son and was telling me some funny stories about her boys. One of her boys made an "ocean" in the bathroom sink with toothpaste. {Very creative I must say!}

I was reassuring her that boys do change. The dumping of toys and the "little boy" messes will be a faint memory as they get older. A little encouragement for my dear friend...

Yesterday, morning when I walked into my sons room after he left for school. I was greeted with this....

My son later told me he was just looking for these....

Did you KNOW that when you find a mess or your children being messy.... Pull out your camera!!!!!

Taking a picture makes you feel better. It works every time!

p.s. When he came home from school...he began cleaning it up...he already knew what I was thinking!

That is a bunch of legos!! I can totally see those little pieces being stuck at the very bottom and your son having to dump everything out. You're absolutely right about taking a picture. It just transforms your mood with the snap of a button!

P.S. Glad he got them all picked up before bedtime. Stepping on legos in the dark is no fun!!

Funny, but when I saw this post I sorta welled up. My family room used to look like this all of the time. I didn't think to grab the camera back then. I've always loved Legos and I miss those days. He's 15 now and I moved the Legos to the basement since he wasn't playing with them anymore. I was always amazed at how they would dig through piles and piles until they found the right piece.

Great post, Sandy!

I have never seen so many Legos in my entire life...I AM NOT KIDDING! I think I might have just sat down in the middle of them and had myself a good boo-hoo session. ;) At least he picked them all up...right???

I am SO glad that I'm not the ONLY one who deals with those messages. Thanks for the gift of admitting that things aren't always perfect at your house! And thanks for the reminder to take pics.. I'm sure that, one day, when my boy is gone and my house is all picked up again, I'll miss that messy time in my life!
Blessings....

Oh, those legos. I think my son has some Indiana Jones scene playing out on his floor as I type.
We'll miss that one day.

At least he kept them all in his room! I'm a firm believer in the camera theory, by the way.

Yeah. I dunno if I believe the whole faint memory thing. Hubby can be quite a mess maker.

Wow, that's a lego lovers dream.

We weren't allowed to play with Legos when we were little because they could make a mess.

Holy cow! I don't think I've ever seen so many Legos outside of Legoland. Fortunately (for me), Indy isn't really into Legos (yet). He does have a ton of Playmobil stuff, be he knows if I find it on the floor, out it goes. Good for him for cleaning it up though.

LOL! I had to laugh because I remember those days very well! Brett would dump out EVERY SINGLE LEGO to find just one piece he just HAD to have. I wasn't very happy at the time, but now I kind of miss those days.

How funny! I'll have to try to remember the camera trick/mom-distraction next time I find a mess like that. :-)

You tell your friend that God picks special mom's to have 3 boys! I am one of them and love it!

On another note...HOLY LEGOS!!
My boys also love legos. They are all in the lego phase right now. I love the creativity they use when making their cars, ships or whatever!

I know I will miss it when they no longer want to play with them!

I can't stop laughing!!! That is SOOO my house! Seriously, I am laughing out loud and tearing up a bit! LOL
We have 5 boys, most of them have been into legos...we have them assembled under their bed on rubbermaid tub lids, we have them on shelves, we find random pieces all over our house and there are always 1 or 2 VERY special, unique pieces they are searching for or something just "Can't" be created! :)
Thanks for the laugh!

LOL that is the funniest thing. I learned early on...just close the door and pretend that room doesn't exist. It's easier than fighting a losing battle hehe

Wow, that is a lot of legos. I can't believe how much they are. Jaden just totally got into them I'm really impressed on how well he does for being 6. Let me know if you ever sell any or those, ha ha..I have a little giveaway.

I love the trail down the middle. We are still using megablocks because legos are still a little small for my little ones. We have a huge tub of megas though and sometimes get the same effect.

I totally agree about the camera.

Wow, this looks like our family room when my son is on one of his building sprees, except you have about a gazillion times more.

I showed this picture to my 6 year old to see what he would say. His eyes lit up. If he could have run his finger through the monitors he would have. I read him what you said about it and he said, "I bet he didn't clean those up. I bet when the got home he just built something really big all the way up to the ceiling!"
