Ha ha, and I thought I was the only mom who ever did that. "Yes! I don't have to drive to practice today." What? The game's been rained out? Oh that's too bad. :)
I must admit that every time it rains, anymore, I think, "Maybe, just maybe, Brittany's track meet will be cancelled." Unfortunately, they'll run in the rain as long as there are no thunderstorms...so, then, I keep my fingers crossed to hear some rumbling! :) I think we're all guilty!
*lol* I remember those days when my kids were little and t-ball or LL would be called due to rain. I would get so excited only to turn around and see those little faces looking up at me.
Those days are gonna come back around soon now that Little Imp is getting close to the age where I can sign her up for stuff. Yeah, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.
Could it be getting the kids motivated; getting them dressed and collecting the sports equipment, orange slices, water bottles, whatever; getting them in to the car; driving them 5 or more miles; sitting waiting for the sport practice / event to end and all the while thinking of all the other stuff we would rather or should or could be doing; getting the kids back into the car; driving home; changing their cloths again; and then getting dinner on the table. It's exhausting just thinking about it. :-) Hope you have a beautiful uneventful day.
So true but to see the disappointment in my little man's eyes when he can't play baseball makes me a little sad. I think my feet are going to web - it can go away now.
I'm so guilty of this! I think that for me, it's because we get an unexpected break and change in the pressing schedule. It's like a gift of a few extra hours that can be used as "down time" instead of "hurry up and let's go" time.
Hahaha I do the same thing. Lexi loves to play softball. Week after week of practice and games....well, I have to admit I do get excited when something gets cancelled due to the rain. It just gives you a break.
LOL! I can relate! I think kids and parents both hate practice but love just playing and watching the games. When they get older and can drive themselves to practice, it's much better. Brett is on Spring Break and was supposed to have practice today, but it is storming here. I mean thunder, lightning, hail and floods. They all met up at the school for indoor batting practice. I really didn't want him driving in this weather. That is the one bad thing about them driving. In fact I hear sirens now. There are always wrecks during bad weather on the highway outside of our neighborhood. People just drive like it's not raining.
I don't know why but I know I did it when my now grown kiddos were playing sports...I have even silently prayed for a loss for my sons baseball team after a looooooonnnnnnnggggggg hot season when they made the playoffs and kept winning and winning and winning! I've confessed this to him and he's forgiven me...they did loose by the way and we went happily off to Fla on our vacation! Happy Rainy Day Robin Rane' All Things Heart and Home
You bet I do this!!!! Four boys and sports equals at TON of time on the playing fields...I used to pray for not just rain but lightning!!!! Then I knew everything would be canceled.
HAHA - we do the same exact thing at our house! It's supposed to dump a ton of snow on us this weekend and my friends and I have been texting "YAY NO PRACTICE" all week!!!!
I read your comments on Follow The Leaders and Boo Anventures so i thought I would stop by, what a super fun blog you have, I especially love the music!
You are so right about the rain! Although I am secretly hoping my son's first soccer game gets rained out tomorrow :).
Boy do I remember those days. But I also remember the horrors of them playing soccer during down pours...they never called those stupid soccer games off! I had a love hate relationship with my kids sports their whole lives.

That is too funny! I could see myself being the same way if I had children.
oh yes... i have done that many a time!!!

You do this too? And I see many others do also!
I thought that I was alone in my feelings...now I don't feel so guilty!

Yes!!
Especially when you have three kids doing three different activities and a baby to tote to all the events.
Aww, shucks, it's raining?:)

I imagine it is much like a snow day. :0
Totally guilty as charged! I do that too. I even do that with snow days.
Funny -- but oh, so true!!!

Oh I sooo do that! Thanks for talking about it, I thought I was the only one!

Very funny and if my children were playing sports I would probable fall into this catagory as well.

I think it is all about lists. If practice is cancelled, it is one thing you can cross of the to do list:)

I totally do this - I teach piano lessons by my choice, but get excited when someone cancels! Why do I do that?
Looks like the weather we've been having.
Oh yeah...I don't know why though.
You bet I do this!!!! Four boys and sports equals at TON of time on the playing fields...I used to pray for not just rain but lightning!!!! Then I knew everything would be canceled.
Yep! Yep! and Yep!
lol- your not alone in this..
I just heard some parents in the parking lot a school begging for rain so they didn't have to go to practice.. to funny!

That's funny! I'm sure I'll be saying the same thing when my son is old enough to be involved in sports!
I admit it! I am just the same when it comes to activities! :)

YES, that's me!! That's ME!! It's been raining for three days, but they're still playing basketball so there's no good excuse.:)
LOL! Sooo true!
It's been raining here since last Thursday.
