Dear "J......"

Last night, I sat on your soft glittery cushions in your dressing room watching my girls try on clothes at your store. A trip of shopping with my daughters was meant to be fun and enjoyable but soon came incredibly frustrating as each outfit was tried on. I must admit when you walk into your store it appears very fun! My girls love all the fuzzy pillows, rainbow socks, lip gloss and gummy bear earrings.

However, it seems like in the "middle" of the store, you have remembered that my daughters are still young. They are naive and still childish in their ways. They drip their ice cream on their shirt and play with their dolls and I can still stick a bow in their hair. They are YOUNG. They are CHILDREN. They are in the middle of some of the most innocent and fun years of their lives. They have imaginations and still slide down slides and splash in puddles!

But, someone in your company, has forgotten that my daughter is still a child! Whoever designs your clothes on the outer surrounding racks of your store must of got the wrong "memo". Maybe they thought they were designing clothes for 18 or 19 year olds and didn't realize that your store is for 9 and 10 year olds.

I sat there on those glittery cushions watching my daughter try on stuff that made her look 17 instead of almost 10! These years are precious and quick. Obviously, whoever designs your clothes does not have kids because they would know. I don't want my daughter to wear bell bottom jeans that suck her legs. Or ripped glittery shirts that spell "Peace"....I thought Woodstock was 20+ years ago??? Or tight black pants or low cut shirts??

Now, I know I can just not shop there. But your competition seems to have copied you because it's hard to find clothes that make my daughters look femine, young and still child-like. But, I search and I still hold my ground in your dressing room when all the mothers glare at me!What happened to "pretty"? Truly "pretty"? You seem to push the boundaries just as far as you can...

My girls will still want to go in there and we may spend another two hours in your dressing room. But, still come out with only a few "tops" and that is okay! I will protect them and guide them as best as I can and I hope other mothers will stand up against you too.

Sincerely,

a "mom"

Preach it, sister! And I beg you to tell me where you find modest girls clothing as I'm right behind you on this journey!

I totally, 100% agree with you!!!! Why do they make such trashy looking clothes? I don't think they look nice even on young adults. Let us know if you do locate a clothing store that sells decent, modest looking clothes for the pre-Tweens and Tweens.

I don't even set foot in that store and my daughter knows why. We shop at Gymboree, Crazy 8 and Lands End. They seem to have the most modest and decent prices. However, it's not going to be too long before I can't shop at Gymboree and Crazy 8 anymore. Keep your stand! Little girls (well no girls, really) should look like t____!

You are so right! Hold that ground, mom.

This is so true!!! My daughter is now 18 and I still cringe at some of the clothing that is acceptable in this society. It is incredible that they even make some of these styles for little girls. What about innocence and sweetness?!

I hope you sent it in! I have all boys, but it worries me for them and for innocent girls who are being taught that they aren't worth much!
