Being Still....

My dear Readers,

It's 7:32am usually I have my post up but I am sitting here with a cup of hot tea. It's too early to call my girlfriend. Whom I talked to FIVE TIMES yesterday....WHO LISTENS OVER AND OVER AND OVER again..my reasons...my struggles...my fears. She has her own "stuff" going on and it amazes me that she still picks up the phone and LISTENS.

We are in midst of a BIG decision...one that affects everyone in the family. It's one that has "good" on both sides and "drawbacks" on both sides.

Have I made my list of the good and bad?I have a notebook full of them.

Have we sought out wise counsel? They are not answering anymore...wink!

Have we prayed? Yes!

There are huge blessings with this decisions but then there are some "dreams" that may have to be put on the back burner. There would be adjustments....change....it is good but the unknown frightens me.

I am doer...a fixer...a talker....right now the Lord has just reminded me with the verse from Psalm 46:10~

Be Still and Know that I am God.

Its hard.

P.S. How do you handle making big decisions????

Being still is hard, trust me I know. I have faced many difficult decisions and just out right ask God for signs. Pretty blatant, I know! But guess what? He often gives them to me.

I will be praying that you make the best and wisest decision, and I will also pray that you find peace.

Oh my, I was JUST thinking of this verse this morning because I'm always thinking of the next move and I need to be still and let Him have control. He will guide you through this decision...deep breath!

You have my prayers for the best decision for you and your family. I pretty much let Him guide me in almost every big decision I make. He knows best.

Love that verse. Good luck!

Decisions are at times tough . . . being still can also be tough. Hang in there, keep praying, and know others are lifting you up in prayer too!

God wants us to STEP OUT of our comfort zone. Sometimes it seems what he lays in front of us would be impossible for our family to do BUT-he can make anything happen if it's his will. I HATE BEING STILL!!! I want to jump in WITH BOTH FEET. We too are comtemplating BIG STUFF and are waiting on HIM :) Blessings!

First and foremost, I take it to God in prayer, trusting that He will lead me where He wants me to go. I know that He has a plan for my life and everything will fall into place according to His will and purpose. Hope this scripture helps...Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

I'm praying for you, my friend! Please keep us posted!♥

Like you, I have a difficult time sitting "still" because I feel like I have to be doing something. I'm glad you posted up that verse...it's a good reminder for all of us!

((hugs)) best of luck with the decisions!

Pray, pray, pray and have full confidence in the final decision you make and never look back! So hard to do, but so worth it in the end! Praying for you to make the best decision for your family!

I am terrible at making big decisions so, I turn it over to God. I am still and I pray. I open myself up to Him and hear His voice.

On the other hand, I am married to a man that believes in what he calls, "The Stumble Theory." I know he prays about decisions but he can just jump right into anything that comes his way. He feels God brings something along for us to just "stumble" into. Phillip is much more carefree about decisions than I am. It drives me crazy sometimes, but it works most of the time. Maybe he has a better ear for what God wants than I do.

I will say a prayer for you to make the right decision.

It is so hard to be still, I am a planner and doer too. I also try to over analyze everything so even though God may speak I am sometimes trying to hear it another way. I often pray that when he opens the door I am supposed to walk through to please shut (and lock) every other way out!

It depends on our situation on how we handle it. I am a doer and a wanter, I am not patient at all. We pray about it, sometimes we don't wait for our answer though and things don't turn out great. It is hard to just sorta wait things out and put myself aside and make sure that God's answer comes before my actions.

I will be praying that you make the best and wisest decision. Ultimately God is in control. You will know when it happens because you will have peace once it has been decided.♥

Lots of thought and lots of prayer. Then you choose and then let the rest go. The hardest part is second guessing yourself...make your choice and walk away. ;0
good luck.

I have been there many times but the other verse that helps is "We walk by faith not by sight". He is amazing at his faithfulness, grace and handling of every situation and while you might stretch and grow a bit, he is right there with you to support and watch over you in the midst of that time as well! I wish you the best in your decision!
One fabulous thing I was taught by our pastor was to pray and your answer is no until you feel prompting in your spirit that it is yes. You will know, your spirit will be at ease with the decision or you will be torn.
Blessings!

We do exactly what you do.
Once, we started building our "dream home"(a few years back-)and were in the process of picking out everything for new construction. Paint, granite- you get the picture. Every step of the way was exciting. I think you saw our first home-and this was much bigger, and much more expensive. We were heading into the final decisions, where with one more payment, we would be locked in...and then I turned to my husband one day, and said, "I feel uneasy about this-I have been praying, and I don't think this is where we are to be..."
He said,"You know, I have been feeling the same way, but thought it was just the nervousness of the big financial commitment."
We ended up backing out, and ended up moving to a completely different town that we hadn't even considered before. We found our current sub because we made a wrong turn and were lost...three days after canceling our big house project. We both KNEW this was where we were meant to be-
God shows the way-if you are watching His signs, and I know you are...

I am praying for you friend! I know how to handle screaming kids much better than the stillness. Sometimes I think that it is too "loud" in my head for me to hear God...

I find if I pray about the situation then "wait" (be still) everything always works out. Many times the Lord has not had the same idea for my family's life that I have and I have been crushed by it...ONLY to later find out (sometimes years later) that his plan saved us BIG TIME in the long run.
What it comes down to (what I have found) is God REALLY does love us and wants the best for his children.
I'll be praying for you~

I hope you can find some peace soon and be at ease about your big choice.
Our big choice was to go without a lot of 'extras' so I'm staying at home and we chose to put Bryce into a Catholic school and not the public school that we already pay for with our property tax $'s. Big, big, big choice and change in how we live but you know what? I was scared to death and hated having to make this big decision and not be told what to do, but Jason and I made the choice and are happy about it!
Whatever you choose will be right...He wouldn't lead you in the wrong direction I'm sure of it!!!
Many hugs, love and prayers sweetie~ Les

Being still is a good start indeed. Hero and I use Prov. 3:5,6 constantly. We learned the hard way, in ALL our ways, to acknowledge Him, and He will direct our path. And, we have learned to "let the peace of Christ" rule in our hearts. This does take time. It takes being still. It takes trusting Him... and making sure we've acknowledged Him in the whole thing, turning it over to Him. And we pay close attention to our peace, or lack thereof. We've discovered that if we start turning in the wrong direction, we lose our peace...get sort of an "inner screeching of brakes." In time, it comes clear. We also ask for confirmation(s). He is faithful. May He bless you as you learn His direction.

We have gone through this same decision process so many times in the past couple years! We do the same thing, lists, pray, seek counsel, and wait, try to not worry, try to figure it all out logically, try to listen for or feel God to steer us in the right direction, feeling peace makes us feel good about the decision, we're going through another decision process right now too, I'll say a prayer for you! We've thought too, that it's more difficult when there is not a clear cut answer but as long as God is at the head of the decision wherever it might take you, then either one can be the right one :)

I too, am a "fixer". "Let's just solve this problem". The Lord has been allowing many circumstances in my life lately that I cannot fix. It is very difficult for me. But all we CAN do is to Be Still..."be anxious for nothing but with all prayer and supplication make your requestsbe made known to God". I'm with you girl. If you are like me, you will have to keep giving it back to him continually!

So interesting because that particular verse has been running through my head for about a week now. You know, sometimes it's very hard to be still.

Sounds like a great friend to have!

I must tell you that I've really struggled with some decisions we've had to make here recently too! So what did we do? We definitely prayed! And secondly, we sought out wise counsel, but not too much. In other words, we're really careful about listening or taking too much outside advice. We tend to wait on the Lord! I must tell you that something BIG happened over the weekend with all that we've been going through. It was totally prayer and seeking the Lord on totally in how it worked out. It is extremely hard to be still....and know that God is there! But....HE is there and if we are still long enough, we find this out a whole lot faster in EVERY situation. Sorry to ramble on. Not sure it helped ya. In any case, continue seeking him on this big decision ahead and I know without a doubt...He will meet you in the middle!

Good Luck with your decision. Are you thinking about having a baby? Maybe I'm way off, but it sounds like the thoughts I have contemplated when thinking about having another child.

I make lists, lists of lists of lists...and maybe another list. I pray, I say the Serinity Prayer and in the end I just end up asking myself: What is the right thing to do? Take away all of the "extras" what really matters and what is the right thing? It usually helps. Wishing you well and happy decision making. {{HUGS}}
