Finally The White House Makes Me Smile~

Have you seen Mr. Robert Gibbs??? You don't need to wait for Saturday to see "Saturday Night Live"....He is his own show every time he gets behind the podium. Sometimes I laugh out loud watching him...

He says..."You need to contact the White House- Hello there????Mr.Gibbs -you represent the White House!"

There is NOT one question this man will answer..ever...any day of the week...any topic!

Good Grief!

Fresh Pie~

Dear Mr. "Sandy Toes",

I hope tonight you can break free from your meetings and loosen your tie. I made fresh strawberry pie...it's warm enough where we can enjoy this out on the back table under the umbrella. Yes, I know it's not in the middle of July and it's not the weekend. But, tonight...let's pretend like it is!

Love,

Mrs. Sandy Toes

Strawberry Pie

2 cups of fresh strawberries cut up

One cooked crust (I buy the frozen and cook it off)

1 cup of sugar, water and a package of strawberry jello

After crust is cooled, Put cut up strawberries in the crust; Boil water and mix sugar and jello together with water till everything is dissolved; Let cool a bit; Pour over strawberries; Frig for a couple of hours;

Enjoy with a dollop of Cool Whip!

"In A Bowl"

I don't know about your kids but my kids love {I mean LoVe} snacks. They especially love them after practice. When we come home after a long day, I am too too tired to chop up fresh fruit. I find myself just telling the kids to grab some "cheeze-its" or "chips".

So my new {chopping} goal is to cut up a bunch of fresh fruit and put in bowls....READY...CHOPPED and WASHED!!!

Now...I can be ready to go when my kids say "SNACK, please"...I can just pull out a variety of fruit and they can "enjoy"!

How do you make your snacks healthy and ready????

"Music" It's in the Air....

When I was in elementary school, my parents thought I should play a musical instrument b/c their little girl was more interested in throwing a baseball. So somehow they came up with guitar lessons...I remember going to lessons every week up on the second floor of a music store with this man with a loonnnnggg pincky finger{it would gross me out}. After months went by and my practicing was more scarce and the guitar teacher kept telling my parents that I am not practicing. They finally let me quit{which was amazing b/c they never let me quit anything}.

Well, here I am many years later and both of my children are playing piano. Honestly, those same desires of throwing a ball have been TRANSFERRED to my kids. My two oldest love sports and if we are not at a practice or game...we are at the batting cages or court practicing for the next season to come around.

With all that being said, my kids still are playing piano. As a matter of fact, my son loves to sit down and just play...he is getting to that point where he can just play! I love to listen to him...

This weekend, they both had their piano recital... My son was thrilled b/c with the help of his teacher he could pick some songs he liked. He played "Lean on Me" and "Pink Panther" believe it or not...they are both lonnngggg songs.

I am not sure how I will react the day they come to me and say they want to "Quit"{maybe they never will} but for now I am just enjoying the {MUSIC}~

"Stir and Season" Saturday

Fresh Fruit is in...it's time for Fruit pizza...

I received this recipe from a friend in MOPS but instead of doing it circular like "pizza". I put it in a 9 by 13 pan and pile the fruit on top....it looks beautiful and full of taste~

Fruit Pizza

1 tube of sugar cookie

8 oz cream cheese (room temp)

1/3 sugar

1/2 t of vanilla

1 8 oz of cool whipped topping (oops, almost forgot this)

Fruit (strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, blueberries, blackberry and grapes)

Take a 9 by 13 pan and spread out tube of sugar cookie on bottom of pan; Bake at 375 for 12 minutes or until lightly brown; Mix cream cheese, sugar, cool whip and vanilla well; After crust is done, let it cool completely; After cool, layer the cream cheese mixture on top of cookie crust; Pile on the fruit all over the top; Cut like a pan of brownies~

I am making this for my kids piano recital this weekend! Oh yum!

Like Two Older Ladies

Such serious conversations going on here... like two "older" ladies out at their "regular" place for brunch~

As I watched them and listened...I thought to myself I hope 20 years from now or so when they go out to lunch together~

they will invite their ole' mom with them!

Line Up Kids!

Hand Sanitizer.....

I have big squirt bottles..little squirt bottles...hand sanitizer that fits on your key chain...even one the size of a pen....

I am always squirting my kids with that stuff.... Anytime we leave a playground, store or any public space~They are lined up for the "squirt".

We went with some friends to the new McDonalds playland. It was jammed...it is new and it was Spring Break. While we were walking to the car....my kids were crying out for their hand sanitizer and of course I agreed.

I carelessly told them that the place was full of every germ possible...you could almost "feel" the germs.

So my oldest daughter gets in the car and literally is lavishing the blue sanitizer all over her hands...arms....ankles that were exposed and soon to her face before I stopped her.

Do you have any hangs up as a mom(bad habits, fears, opinions)that your kids take even one step further?

Let's share...shall we???

Don't Mess With My "Sleeve"

Now...before you write your comment or send me an email...read carefully...

I don't like "waste"

but on the other hand

I am not a tree hugger either BUT yet I see benefits in the whole "Go Green" movement within certain limitations and do my share.

HOWEVER,

My speculations a couple of weeks ago were CONFIRMED....

I was at Starbucks..getting my carmel light latte....

The lady hands me my drink and I ask her for a "sleeve" to go around the cup..it was HOT...I could not hold it...

She pointed to the chalkboard above with colored chalk that read...

"Go Green With Starbucks and don't use a sleeve"

She asks "Do you want to participate?" I quickly replied "No, I would rather use some cardboard than blister my hand. Didn't Starbucks invent the "sleeve"? "

She replies..."People are making cloth sleeves and carrying them in their purse."

Making Cloth Sleeves....Some days I can barely FIND my purse let alone a {cloth sleeve} for my coffee~

COME ON!!! Conservation is good but DON'T mess with my "sleeve"..oK???

Some Silouhette "fun"

Nine years ago, we were at Disney with my son and had a silhouette done. From that point on I have always been in love with "silhouettes". I have ones of people I don't even know but they "tickle" me happy.

A couple of months ago, I saw a blogger who had "large" silhouettes of her children on her mantle over the fireplace. Well, last week, I was at a "store" and found the greatest large frames for my master bedroom {I am sprucing it up a bit} and thought they would look "perfect". Then as I was checking out...it was like a "lightbulb" moment. I could do silhouettes of my kids..BIG ONES.... I was so excited I called my girlfriend in line while paying for them.
{Yes, I am that lady who talks on the cellphone in line and everyone gives evil looks to..it's me!}

This weekend....my kids and I went into my craft room..turned off the lights....used a flashlight...and drew some face silhouettes. My kids were full of questions and couldn't understand why I was doing this.

After some tracing, cutting, matting....and some ribbon {that is something I added but like}..it was done!

What do you all think? My bedroom is black, floral and "sandy" walls....I think This is Just Fun!This Works For Me....check out all the other wonderful ideas here!

Hello "Monday"!

I knew early Friday morning this weekend was starting off "shaky". My youngest has full blown asthma and she had been up all night again! However, this time her cough sounded like a {"bark"} and I suspected "croup".

So early Friday morning we were off to the ped's office.

After a couple of minutes, in the doctor's office, my doctor went and got the "head" doctor who checked my daughter and then did several "tests"{all you asthma moms know these) and breathing treatments. The one doctor walked over to me and quietly said...."She may be admitted to the hospital depending on how the second treatment takes". Thankfully, a little better and with much discussion we opted for solution b#. This is where a "respiratory therapist" comes to your house with treatment in the afternoon.

Long story short...THIS WORKED! It saved us literally hours and maybe a night in the ER (normal for asthma situations). With steriods, breathing treatments and antibiotics (oh yeah, she had strep too-no signs)she is doing great this Monday morning.

My daughter was thrilled when the "respiratory therapist" brought her a new "mask" in the shape of a fish plus stickers to decorate it.

{Old Mask}

{New Mask}

I was so thankful for everyone. Even the doctor from my office called me Saturday morning to see how she was doing. They really care!

So with that...I missed the first games of the season for this young man....

and this young lady....

But, so thankful that everyone in my "home" is breathing easy!

{One day can make you look at life in a different perspective!}

p.s. Tomorrow I am sharing a "little" project I have been working on...Oh I am so excited to share it with my bloggy friends!

"Stir and Season" Saturday

"Stir and Season" Saturday

Today, I am sharing with you one of my favorite "salads". I make this all the time in the summer and it's perfect with a piece of fresh bread on the side. What makes this salad delightful is the dressing...let me know if you try it!

Oriental Chicken Salad

2 chicken breast boiled and chopped

1/2 cup toasted almonds

1/4 cup toasted seasame seeds

1 can rice noodles (I don't use the whole can)

1 head lettuce chopped up nicely

(Mix all these ingredients up together)

Right before serving; pour this dressing on top~

Dressing

Mix Together:

4 T sugar

2t salt

1/2 t pepper

4 T white wine vinegar

1/2 cup salad oil

Enjoy!

{Just typing this makes me want to make this for dinner tonight}

Favorite {Blog} Friday

Beautiful, Vintage, Colorful, Inspiring, Mothering Love, Graceful....

these are all words that describe my Favorite {Blog} Friday. I read this blog daily and I love every post she writes....I get the same "giddy" feelings when I read some of my favorite magazines.

Many times I want to pack my bag and meet her at Starbucks {I think she likes Starbucks as much as I do!} to chit chat then go and do some amazing "shopping". This amazing and very talented blogger is....

Lu Lu & co.

She says.....

{Blogging enriched my life in so many ways. It has opened my eyes to so many "talented people". So many wonderful, funny, heartwarming, and life changing stories. Blogging has made me challenge myself to use my ideas, instead of just "thinking of ideas". Blogging has provide a way for me to share my thrill for "vintage". It has also provide a connection with other people from all over who love the similar things, who are moms, and love to share there own story. It had let me think of my passions and dreams and be encouraged to give them a go.}

Her life will inspire you~ I think she has more talent in her little "pinky" finger than most have in their entire body. She throws the most AmAzInG parties for her kids from puppy {Love} parties to dreamy GaRdEn themes....

LuLu must live in one AWESOME area because she seems to shop at some of the most amazing Vintage shops. She can also find some of the best deals and if it's not just what she wanted~ she can seem to make it work with some {Creative} lOvE.

When she is not Partying or Shopping...she can make a simple basket of band aids make you "ooohhh and ahhh"....

I think her reason for doing all she does is due to the love she has for her family~ Her home reflects the love inside and the memories made behind her front door. I have falling in love with her blog and I know you will too~

Grab your teacup and settle in your chair...her blog is truly an experience~

Oh by the way.....

Dearest Lulu,

I am SO SO SO copying this...any words of wisdom before I do~

p.s. Today, I am acknowledging all the wonderful people who comment on my blog daily. If it weren't for you, I probaly would not blog....your kind words, advice and encouragement is what makes this thing we call "blogging" worth it!

Thank you to everyone who "follows" my crazy and really just "normal" mommy life!

My Surprise Spring Giveaway goes to this "fine" follower....
